B7 S4 integrated glove iPod dock - what gives?

I have the premium sound + nav system (sorry don't know the model # but its the factory '08) with the integrated iPod dock in my glove. However, when I punch it up all I see are song #s. No play lists, no album names, etc. In order to to play a list I have to have it selected in the iPod before I dock it. I can choose other "playlists" or as they are labeled Audio CDs but they do not correspond with my playlists.

What am I doing wrong? Is this an iPod generation issue? Should I just download to a flash memory card and shove it in the slote where the nav screen unfolds?

It's not you. It's Audi's worthless iPod integration.

You will NOT see any type of text whatsoever from your iPod. No titles, artists, genre................nothing. CD 1 is playlist 1, CD 2 is playlist 2, etc. except I think CD 6 is the entire iPod.

You'll need to do what most people do and use only SD cards like you mentioned. But this method also comes with its own quirks. SD cards only (SDHC will NOT work), maximum of 400 files (songs and folders) per card (doesn't matter the size of the card). There's probably other issues I'm forgetting.

My stereo lists the iPod as CD's 7-12. When I select a CD 7-11 (first five playlists on the iPod) and turn the car off and get back into it later, the stereo thinks I've changed to CD 12, yet it continues to play the rest of that playlist. It bites.

Turn off the stereo and turn up the loud pedal.

edit: I lack RNS-E - regular ol stereo for me. No SD card potential.
