headlight washers...how do you know if you have em?

Like without taking off the bumper? I see the hose for the washer fluid when i open the hood, and the two cut outs in the bumper, but i have no button inside labeled for headlight washers....whats the catch? Do i just not see the button? or do i have the hose but no washers?

If you have two caps on the front bumper by the lights, you should have them. Pull back on our washer switch, when it sprays on your windshield, it should also spray on your lights. Have a buddy spot for you. The previous owner of mine plugged the passenger side for some reason, so the drivers side sprayed twice as hard and would spray my roof haha.

So there is no other button? you just pull the washer tab for the windsheild while the lights are on and the the headlight washers should work?

the owner's manual, a valuable resource if you have one, says headlight washers were only available on vehicles equipped with HID headlights. Other than that, the covers are simply that.

I have them on my Halogen set up, I thought they only activated with the windshield washers when the head lights were on also.

Not true as my car came with regular lights and had them. I have never actually seen one without them.
The 2002 had raised bumps on the bumper for them while the 03 (maybe 02.5) and later the flush mount ones that pop up.

Another funny story, I had a friend with an 02 who plugged the driver side, pointed the passenger side to the right and would squirt people who cut him off.

This is correct, only when the headlights are on do they come on. I have VAGed for DRLs and they do not come on with the "city lights", only the actual headlights.

Your car must be on (along with headlights). Then just go about washing ur windshield.. It will shoot ur lights too!... But only once i think.

not sure how he did it, I just know he had the front bumper off one day fixing something, next day he pulls up next to me at a light and squirts me right through the driver's window!

1.) Turn on Car
2.) Turn Headlights on
3.) Pull forward and Hold your windshield wiper control.
4.) Dont release it even after the windshield ones already squirt, you will hear a faint moan from the front of the car and all of a sudden see mist spraying everywhere! ...tada your done

the system is easily broken, your pump may have died.

mine started leaking and i was always annoyed that they would spray junk all over my relatively clean car if i didn't turn off my headlights when i washed the windshield, so i unplugged the pump and plugged the hose. no leaks, no unwanted spraying, and if i ever decide i want that feature again i just have to hook it back up.

They do break easy. I saw people when I lived in snow country who tried to use them when there was a pile of snow on top of the front bumper. The weight was too much for the little caps to push against and it would brake them.

To be honest, the only time I found them useful was when I had de-icing windshield washer fluid and was driving in snow. The snow would "cake up" on the headlights and I could clean them off, but other than that, my headlights never got dirty enough to need the sprayers.

In my old pickup, (which i always kept clean so I didn't need washer fluid), I took out the hose and made it squirt straight up in the air. Which it did, about 15' or so. Whenever I was tail gated on the highway, I would squirt, the mist would hit the guy behind me and i would laugh when he turned on his windshield wipers to clean the liquid!!! It was hilarious!
