S4 mirror caps matching SILVER paint code ??

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'm thinking of putting a touch of silver to the front bumper lower lip and to the mirror caps, maybe the rear valence too

I'd like to match the S silver colour (sort of "alluminum", very similar to the wheels colour)

Anybody knows a matching paint code for the S mirror caps ??

I think the rear valence should go non-gloss (mate) "Audi silver", but not sure about that code too

I think the S4 mirrors are aluminum. Not painted. Correct me if I am wrong.

Matte should look great-subtle yet different. Good luck.

Re: S4 mirror caps matching SILVER paint code ??

Stock S4 caps are plastic, in brushed alluminum finish, but given the excessive price tag and the fact that I don't want to have "two pairs of mirror caps", I am in search for a matching paint code

nein! I think they're plastic (s4 mirror caps)

they stopped being proper aluminium about 5 years ago (b6 was last)

Re: S4 mirror caps matching SILVER paint code ??

OK, I have been hunting this down myself for some time now......do a search both here and in the S5 forum for the other threads for part numbers and such.

Up until now, I was under the impression that the "aluminum" S5 and B8 S4 mirror caps were to be the same, and an exact fit for the B8 A4.

Not real aluminum, but a faux treatment. They are a deeper silver/aluminum color, with almost a bit of a clear coat over them make them shine more in the light.

    But.......

Today, I spotted a whole parking lot full of new S4's and 2010 S5's sedans and cabrios here in the bay area. The mirror caps on those were definitely plastic, but back to the flat silver/aluminum color, again like previous S* models and the RS4. Not shiny at all, and not "clear coat smooth" to the touch like the 08' or 09' S5's.

What's my point? I forgot, but finding a paint code so far has been impossible. Also, it seems now that the S5's mirror finish is exclusive and did not transfer over to any other S model car. (at least from the 2 dozen examples I saw today)

I wasn't sweated for walking around and groveling over the cars (about a dozen V10 R8's were there also), but I was kindly asked not to take any photos. I respectfully obliged. (for the most part)

Back when I took delivery of my A5, I took it to a local paint garage and ended up painting the front lower splitter and the mirrors the same color as the Y-spoke wheels. They blended in very nicely.
Definitely recommend this over buying the alu parts. Ask your dealer or parts department for the color code, they should have it.

    Where did you find this?

The S5 mirror caps do not have paint, but some form of aluminum "treatment".

However, if you found a near perfect color code for paint, that would be tits!

I also want to be able to match the smaller interior aluminum trim color (around air vents, door handles, steering wheel etc) somehow.....

Assume the paint code for those would be very similar, I guess its also the way its painted, as the caps (as you've already said) aren't 100% smooth.

I took a 2010 S4 mirror cap, part number, T80857527A to my Audi dealership, and asked them for the paint code, and they told me it was 3Q7

    Hmmmmmmm.

The 10' S4 aluminum is a little more matte finish than the 08-09' S5 aluminum which has a bit more gloss and depth to the finish though.....

    08-09' S5

However, I took my caps to a paint shop to be painted, and they said they couldnt match it. So although that is the color code from Audi, a paint shop can not necessarily match it.

Sorry, I thought I was onto something

    No worries!

Anthony was able to match the S5 color by way of a personal friend who is a paint guru in order to do his stoneguards on his B8 A4, but it was apparently not an easy or cheap task.

so is the same as the platinum grey rear valence??? Looks like the same color as my titanium package wheels??? I was seriously considering painting my mirrors that color... i have silver & I love the way the platinum grey accents look on my car.. I'm having to get one of my mirrors replaced b/c it is damaged (short story, the trunk bed liner flew off the back of a trunk & smashed my mirror... so im thinking if i have to replace it... should I go S4 or paint them the same color as the platinum grey???

So here is shot of my wheels... this is the color i'm asking about & if it would look good painting my mirrors this color???

S4 mirrors are aluminium coloured, so if you want a finish similar to the S-line valence and your wheels, I suggest asking for the paint code at Audi and getting the mirror caps painted.

Went to my local Audi dealer's body shop and asked them to paint the mirror covers on my A4 paint code 3Q7. They acknowledged that that was indeed the correct paint code to get the S4 mirror cover finish but there is a problem. The formula for the code is not allowed to be reproduced by Audi so the body shop cannot reproduce the paint. Audi wants you to pay $900 + to buy their mirror covers. What I did was work with the manager and we found another silver/aluminum color that was almost the exact (non matte) color as 3Q7 and had the covers painted. We referenced it with an 2013 S4 that was in the dealers new car lot. Cost $290.00

Well I did not get the color code but it was an Du Pont based silver color off the Audi chart. Close to Hyper Silver. After looking at it for the last month I am not really satisfied. I'll stick with it a little longer and see if I can get used to it but will probably change it back to body color before years end. Will send pictures soon.

Looks good but to be honest, for $290 you can easily just buy a set of the real ones. Probably even less money. I sold a set for $265.

Guess I did not search hard enough to find a pair. All I saw on line were new and the cheapest was $599.00 which I thought was outrageous.

Sorry to revive this, but It is what it is... Not sure without seeing it in person, but will this 3M vinyl match? I'm looking to match the mirrors as well, and If I cannot find a proper match, I might end up wrapping everything so that it congruent. I'm thinking of doing my grille surround, emblems, silver window trim and interior trim pieces. Thoughts?
