I have springs in a box, but then found out it may cost a few hundred to have them put on. Can someone give me an appropriate price and also tell me how much it would cost to get coil-overs installed? I'm a newb and have no idea :)

depends where you go, but figure install will run you $200 to $400. cost should be about the same for coilovers or shocks/springs. for shops that know what they are doing, it's 2 to 3 hours. obviously, something like the stasis motorsports is going to take longer, but regular coilovers or spring/shock combo can be done pretty quickly.

when i had my shock/springs installed in my b6 a4, eric @spp did it in less than 2 hours, and he was the only one working on the car.

Suspension on our cars isn't hard but there is a huge learning curve. Once you know what you are doing, you can do it quickly, the first time out though, thats a different story.

BTW OP, i would suggest an alignment after the fact too. That should run you about $150ish from the dealer.

The first time i did my suspension it took about 6 hours. The rear was the more difficult part due to the fact that you have to drop the subframe.

Like others have said, it will cost the same amount to install coilovers / springs.
