    the length is from the bottom of the seat to the end of the thread there is conical and ball seats

    Bolts generally have several measurements of importance.

    Usable Length (UL) is the measurement from the end of the threads to the bottom of the seat.


    Total length (TL) is the entire length of the bolt, including the head.

    Ball seats have another measure, the radius of the ball. 12mm, 13mm, or 14mm are the most common. Audi/VW uses 13mm.
