Lightbulb 2007 Audi A4 2.0T Quattro Curb Weight vs Competition

Just thought I'd share... April of this year was my first experience with Audi and it seems the general consensus is that our cars are heavy. I've had several shops mention how heavy they are and read various posts on Audizine about them being fat pigs.

Out of curiousity I put together a quick comparison of curb weight for 2007 A4 2.0T Quattro MT (my car) against the competitors. Please note that the weights for each vehicle reflect their all wheel drive and manual tranny (if I could find it) models in order to compare apples to apples.

It was surprising that the Audi was the lightest of the bunch! I know our cars are heavy, but not as heavy as the competition.

    2007 Model Curb Weight
    Audi A4 2.0TQ MT 3,549lbs
    BMW 328xi MT 3,582lbs
    Lexus IS250 AWD 3,651lbs
    Infinity G35x 6MT 3,774lbs

I've got my flame suit on in case I screwed some numbers!

I think it's because they "feel" a lot heavier than other models as well, good info though

    No flaming here, good info!

    Wonder if all US, 2.0T, M/T, Q, B7's for 2005.5, 2006, 2007, 2008 have the same or similar (within 50lbs) weight?

Also as the OEM rims and tire sizes change, how much extra weight is envolved (added rotational mass can be murder).

I'd also like to see the weight for a beemer 330xi and Volvo S60 and (2006) S60R T5 in there.

Just remember that their are no regulations in the Auto industry as to the "true" definition of curb weight.
Hypothetical example: An A4 may have been weighed with cloth manual seats. The BMW may have been weighed with leathered, powered, heated, A/C'd seats, because the car only comes that way. This alone could add 150lbs.

The only true way to compare cars would be to have the same exact options, and take them to a public scale.
