5x114.3 wheels, need to know ASAP!!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Guys, I just come across a set of wheels at a very good price, but the bolt pattern is 5x114.3 and I also need 5mm spacers for them. I have searched that 5x114.3 will fit our cars with wobble bolts, but is that any safe? will they just work as good as 5x112? Guys, I need to know this asap! thanks a lot!

Wobble bolts will make them fit, but wobble bolts don't work with spacers (or maybe I'm wrong). What offset are the wheels?

wobble bolts are fine, just dont track the car on them. you can't run a spacer though with wobble bolts.

Wobble bolts are perfectly safe to run. Just make sure you have at least 1.2mm of play within the holes for them to work properly. It's the name that scares many people, although I know many people that use them, and they are fine. As far as spacers, you are allowed to run a 5mm spacer with wobble bolts, but nothing bigger then that

wobble bolts can be used with thick spacers if your spacers are threaded, and the spacer bolts to your hub.

A 40mm offset is just fine, also. You should not need spacers unless there are brake clearance issues, which I doubt, or you want more poke (the wheels closer to the fenders).

I will have a set of 235/40/18 tires. To make them fit I need 5mm spacer because i need 35 offset. am I correct?

Alright guys, searched and got more info about spacers. Apparently, raderwerks, the maker of wobble bolts doesn't recommend spacers with them, but many people have gotten away with running a max 5mm spacer with no problems. You just have to make sure you have enough thread on the bolt to lock it tight.

Unfortunately you can't, unless they make longer wobble bolts with more thread, which I'm unaware of.

You don't HAVE to have a 35 offset... but that will sit pretty flush with the fenders. The higher the offset, the more inside the fender the wheel sits. The lower the offset, the further out it sits. So a 40 offset will sit just 5mm further in then a 35 offset. Like another person on here said, you should be fine with that. I say don't run them, tuck the wheels, and dump the car. But that's just me

I would not know. A test fit can always confirm. Then get the spacers if you need them, as people said you can run 5mm spacers with the wobble bolts.

so how do I know there is at least 1.2mm of play within the holes for them to work properly? I don't have the wobble bolts and the wheels on hand. Any suggestion? Wheels are these:

Re: 5x114.3 wheels, need to know ASAP!!

ASA AR1's.... I'm pretty sure the only way to check is to test it with the wobble bolt. But I might be wrong on that. And if necessary, you can extend the hole bigger if it doesn't have enough play. To be honest, wheels are great, but not worth going through such a hassle of running wobble bolts and spacers and all that junk. Unless you are getting an incredible deal on them; in which case if you are getting a good deal, go for it

after wobble bolts, spacers, hub rings, studs, etc, you might be better off just buying the wheels with correct fitment. It not like those wheels are rare or special. Consider what you are paying for the wheels and how much its gonna take to fit them up.

    Going on what Poopie said:

Wobble bolts are ~$100 for 20
Good spacers (5mm H&R or ECS) will be about ~$80 for 4
    Hubcentroc rings ?????

Just something to factor into the final price.

i guess its cheap enough. Not a steal, but not a bad deal. 600 for a wheel tire set up is pretty reasonable plus he'll have the wobble bolts to use down the road if he finds sweet 5x114.3 wheels later.

so what do I do with the 5mm spacers? is there any space left for me to put on the hubcentric rings after I put the 5mm spacers on?
Looks like the 5mm spacers from ECS are not hubcentric spacers...

depends on the center bore of the wheels you are getting. I forget the stock CB on the hub. 57.1mm?

Re: 5x114.3 wheels, need to know ASAP!!

I'd skip the wobble bolts and spend the 100 bucks on redrilling the wheels. The holes will elongate the original holes by 1.6mm which is about 1/16". The connection will be more secure, you won't need wobbles, and all the normal rules apply again.

I personally would stay away from wobble bolts. I don't like the lack of even stress distribution. Concentricity goes a long way when it comes to fastener strength.

Not really. You're drilling a 5x112 pattern inside the other pattern so 99% of the hole overlaps. You won't see it and it is a stronger connection method.

I am sorry. am I missed something? Ours is 5x112, we are talking about 5x114, how can we drill the bigger holes(114) to make them like 112(smaller holes)? sorry about the noob question...

It elongates the holes to make them a tad larger, so you will be able to run on the stock 5x112 bolt pattern. The new sizes will barely be noticeable over the old bolt pattern on the wheels.
