Unhappy Keep losing Anti Rattle Spring on Front Brake

    Hello all,

I am having a problem that is driving me nuts. My brakes were squealing and chattering like crazy so I bought some the lock tight anti chatter glue stick from ECS tuning. I took off both brake calipers and applied it generously to the back of each pad. When I was reassembling the brakes the anti-rattle clip came off the passenger side brake. I put the clip back in place, tapped it with a hammer and made sure it was well set in place.

About two days later I noticed a clunking noise coming from my front passenger brake and noticed that the clip came off.

So, I went onto ECS tuning and ordered another one. Last night I took off the wheel, put on the new anti-rattle clip/spring and it was a bear to get it back on. So I messed with it for a while and finally was satisfied that it wouldnt come off.

When I got to work today and looked at the brake the clip had already fallen off!

Someone tell me what I'm doing wrong please. I dont feel like wasting $25 over and over, obviously I'm missing something.

    Thank you!

    Gabe

Is the rattle spring secure on the brake pad clip?

That is odd, when I did my brakes, those things were in there good and difficult to remove. I believe you just have to make sure it's set in right and "clipped" in and it won't go anywhere.

I'm almost positive you're doing it wrong. When they are in, they don't just pop out. What pads do you have? It is quite possible you have the wrong pads also.

^I was thinking the same thing about the wrong pads... Those springs are really in there.

Re: Keep losing Anti Rattle Spring on Front Brake

You guys are great!! Thank you for the pictures!!! I have the right pads but the clip on the pad was actually defective and upsidedown, so the clip on the pad that holds the anti-rattle spring was not doing anything. I need to pull the pad and rotate the brake pad clip 180 degrees. I'll just do a tack weld to keep it in place.

    Thanks for the help!

    Can't find them

Where can you get/purchase the brake pad clips as in the "DoThisMyWay" pictures below?

You mean the clips on the back of the brake pads? I don't think you can buy those separately. Most street pads for the B7 should have them, but some "race" or high performace pads don't.
