Not more than 20-22 wrms per channel. What are you trying to accomplish?

It's just that I bought a DVD receiver and I just wanted to make sure it was not worse than what I have now. Can anyone confirm the RMS/Peak? Thanks.

Re: Audi Concert II RMS/Peak ???

    Power is power is power.
    Not TRUE AT ALL.

I could have a cleaner playing 15 watt per channel RMS stereo play better than a 25 watt per channel RMS stereo simply because the 15 watt is better designed.

If it's volume you want, BY ALL means, get the biggest power handling monster out there. The cap for any stereo is going to be at 25 watts per channel True RMS. There exists no radio that can play more. PERIOD.

If you want better sound QUALITY out of your system, I would suggest an Audio Control, their LC series product. JL Audio also sells their CLean Sweep that performs the same function.

You can use the JL or Audio Control with either your symphony II or any other stereo.

Re: Audi Concert II RMS/Peak ???

Thanks A4 Moda, i appreciate the explanation. Maybe you could just tell me if my new head unit will be stronger than my concert II? The new one is 17watt RMS and 50watt Peak x4 Channel. I am not looking for anything crazy, I just want to keep my factory speakers, amp and sub, but don't want to make it sound worse than before. Even if it sounded the same I would be happy. TIA

    NP man.

Why so Cryptic though? Did you by a valor unit that retails for $599, then hard assed the seller into selling it to you for $250 shipped, and now you're having 2nd thoughts?

Come on man. You already want the unit on your car. Even if it sounds worse, you're going to convince yourself it sounds better. So just throw it on already.

So sad but so true, lol. I am trying to teach myself to stay away from doing that mistake over and over. I want to make sure that if I am going to upgrade my head unit than it is actually going to be an "upgrade" and not a "downgrade".

Re: Audi Concert II RMS/Peak ???

Well then, i'd suggest that you get yourself a decent head unit.

For toys/graphics, Kenwood, Panasonic, Pioneer are all great units
for Sound Quality: Alpine and Eclipse

For both graphics and sound quality: my vote goes with Eclipse. Yeah Eclipse units are old school, and aren't quite as cool as the Pioneer Avic series but you can't beat their sound and reliability. I still have my Eclipse single din unit from 1995. Still works great, no problems at all.

2008-2009 models for Alpine have been a huge failure. I would recommend that you stay away from them for the time being. Their docking system for their P1 (gps) and W505s have been a catastrophic failure. Defect rates through the roof. And most complain that the female companion voice for the P1 system sounds like a 19th century frankenstein robot.

..and who said kenwood is on sound quality?
    get the kenwood DDX514 http://www.kenwoodusa.com/Car_Entert...e_Video/DDX514

It has so many audio controls, you wont know wtf to do with it , plus for what you are getting it is relatively inexpensive

Re: Audi Concert II RMS/Peak ???

    I didn't say Crap.

I said Kenwood/pioneer/Panasonic SQ is not as good as an Eclipse Unit. Kenwood/Pioneer/Panasonic have a propensity to satisfy market demand in the "toys" category.

Don't confuse functionality with SQ. I can throw in every time of input and output bearing control onto a POS jensen stereo for you, but that doesn't mean the signal was clean to begin with.

you have to keep in mind, I came from the era that appreciated Nakamichi head units, and McIntosh USA Hand-Made Components.

My acoustic palate is just a little different than most people.

Unless there's an actual wire going to the battery to feed the internal amp. Old school RF decks used to have that I think (they were 30something watts/channel).

In any case if you want power/loudness you need to run separate amps.

Re: Audi Concert II RMS/Peak ???

My point is that space is the key. There's only so much space in a double din deck for an amplifier. The limit is 25 watts RMS. Sure, overdrive that tiny little internal amp to 40 watts RMS, watch as smoke engulfs your passenger cabin.

Yes, with any kind of real power, you'll NEED to run separate amps.
