    Re: A4 3.0 to 2.7tt Swap

You cant really search engines (1.8t, 3.0 etc) that well in the search option. But go in google and search and it will lead you to a few threads on here.

Everyone will tell you "its not worth it"

Is it bad ass? Yes indeed

Is it do-able? Probably not if you are asking questions in a basic forum because it probably means you dont have anywhere near the knowlege needed to make this swap work in terms of electronics and more

    Re: A4 3.0 to 2.7tt Swap

The big issue with a 2.7T swap into a B6 is wiring/ecu/ect. I see no point in a 2.7T swap into a B6, if you are going to take on a project like that, you might as well swap in a VR6 and slap a big turbo on it, that'd probably be easier.

I believe it was previously said that due to the VR6 not being an Audi motor it is even less of an option for the B6 platform and wiring as well as transmission would be even bigger of a nightmare. I may have fallen on my head though and be completely wrong.

Why not just turbo your 3.0 V6?

They are really not all that hard to do. Its a lot of work of course, but not that huge of a deal. I know swapping a 2.7T into a V6 is WAY easier than doing it from a 1.8T.

If you have alot of questions, you might want to give Greg from SSP a call. He has about 3 of these swaps on deck, and I think one B7 2.7T swap to do.

Anything can be done really, as long as you can find a parts car your pretty good to go. I found a 2001 S4 not too long ago with major body imperfections, the front was full of rock chips, bent fender, keyed doors, missing taillights as well as a cracked windshield and a broken mirror. Both front tires were flat and the front right rim had been hit with an object. The car had been vandalized. The interior was immaculate and the engine bay looked lickable clean too. The engine had 73k miles on it. They wanted $3900 for it...i wanted to get it and was gonna do the swap with a mechnic friend of mine.

Using the AVK 3.0 block even with upgraded pistons/rods under high boost applications would probably be a bad idea.

Powerwise the VR6 would be a much better idea. To pull off the VR though you would want SEM to run the motor and keep the factory 3.0 ECU in place to run all the feature comforts (what will still work) in the car. Of course you will have to do some integration of the two systems (SEM and ECU) to get the cluster to work.

If you are going to go the 2.7T route, the C5 A6 2.7T is an easier swap than the B5 S4. The A6 overlapped the B6 body style and shared many of the same features. The A6 ECU is more plug and play into the B6 (which the B5 S4 setup is not). I am speaking mainly of the ECU and harness, not the motor iteslf

What do you consider "high boost"? And has anyone blown one up due to something besides a bad tune?

B5 S4 guys have tried using the 3.0 block to save weight.... i don't recall the breaking point, but the bottom end always tore itself apart.

Haha......that's because when the swap is finished they're too busy driving and enjoying their car to post about the results! Or maybe the swap was so expensive they had to sell their computer.

    Re: A4 3.0 to 2.7tt Swap

3.0 its still a ME 7.1 motronic just like the 2.7TT is....

I am currently swaping the 2.7TT into my H7 (B6) cabrio 1.8TQ...I made a threat about it here....

    http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=287998

I have 2 issues with the wiring so far.

    1) The S4 Ecu sends out rpm, speed and overheating signals to the tacho with the use of separate wires. 7.5 motronic (1.8T) sends this info with canbus
    2) The S4 Ecu needs 3 wires (pins) to oparate the cruise control. The 7.5 motronic (1.8T) only need 1.....

I will try the ecu out with out the above pins. If it doesnt work I will intall the original one as piggyback......
