Re: 2.0t B7 VS Genesis Coupe

the 2.0t has similar numbers to a stock A4. 210hp and 220 tq. Since its RWD and most likely lighter, it's probably faster than a stock A4. A stock Genesis coupe against a chipped A4..the chipped a4 is faster. Almost for sure. Once they start tuning that coupe tho...We're screwed big time fellas.

Re: 2.0t B7 VS Genesis Coupe

Hyundai came a long way...........good for them. i am proud of that company. With so many car makers, they actually went from producing shitty cars to very good and reliable autos..........and now they are headed to luxury and sport line.

that said, i would never buy one just because of the name Hyundai

EDIT: looks like might be a drivers race judging by numbers. 6.9sec for Hyundai and about 7.2 for A4. Hyundai might be a little faster. V6 Track is 5.9sec so thats somewhere around chipped A4.

.........next thing you know, they will be making "Quattros"

If you're talking luxury, and styling it's no contest....... The A4 B7 wasn't built with tearing up and down the street in mind. I figure that's why Audi built the S4 and RS4.

People who drive Hyundais will have the last laugh ... me being one of them.

I have had a Hyundai continuously since 1989 and now I also own and liike my A4, so what does that say about me? Hyundais?

I presently have a 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited in my driveway and am proud to own one. I had a Q7 loaner while my A4 was at the dealer and I could not wait to get back to my Santa Fe! I am partial to the Q5 as I think it is a better fit for me. Would I get rid of the Santa Fe for the Q5? Probably not. I like the reliability and the warranty and the cost to own far too much. The styling and the feature set is also great for me -- not Audi Q5 standard by a long shot but it is not Audi Q5 price either.

And between the two -- the A4 and the Santa Fe, the former is the one likely to be sold / traded first.

Anyone is entitled to their own preference to buy by brand, but once they get past that block and actually drive / own one of these cars, they might think differently. Gone are the times when the sheeple would follow the popular mantra and diss brands like Hyundais. Even the people are CD, R&T, CR and others are now seeing the light. Last -- look at the present economic downturn and its effects on car companies -- Hyundai is one of the very few who saw sales continue to grow -- BTW it was growing before the economic bust.

I own a Mist. Montero as my 2nd car and I would also prbably sell the A4 before I sold it, but that's due to practicality reasons. Not sure the reasoning for your choice, but I've got a wife and 3 kids. So keeping the SUV would be the smarter idea, but by no means does that mean I enjoy it more. And for the record I have no problems with Hyundai, I think they are following the road that Honda, Toyota, and Nissian blazed years ago when people thought they were just cheap Small/Japanese cars.......... I'm even a fan of the Kia Forte.

    AMEN!

Comparing the two cars is nonsense. The Genesis Coupe is made to a different demographic (despite the apparent ownership of A4s on AZ), and its strengths -- out of the box -- is performance and handling, especially drifting. Bundle that with typical reliability, strong aftermarket support (that was booming before the car was even released), great warranty and price, and you can see where they are going with this.

Unlike probably most in this thread, I have actually driven the car. Admittedly I only drove the 3.8T Track as that is all I am interested in. I drove the 6-speed and the Shiftronic. Lets put it this way .... the car is in a different stratosphere than the A4. It is balanced better, feels way nimbler, is far faster, sounds sweeter, seats hug better, corners flat. I don't know if the Brembo brakes are necessarily better than our A4 brakes as ours bit pretty good and are easy to modulate, but the Brembos are likely better on the track. Fit and finish is excellent, though the interior is not Audi quality. It has enough inside for what it is designed to do. The audio system looks too 'young' for my tastest but they must know their demographic. The auto is better than the manual IMO, and the the measured numbers show that it is only 0.1 sec slower to 60.

I have also driven the Genesis Sedan with the 4.6 and that is even faster in straight line acceleration. That car is probably a better comparison with a stock A4 than the Genesis Coupe.

Good points. One of my kids is already out of the house and the other one is in community college and on the way out, so I don't need any vehicle for kid reasons. I have a small RV so the Santa Fe is a keeper for that reason primarily, and secondarily, it is a great road trip vehicle aside from having the room I need for hauling the occasional big item.

As for enjoying it .... I enjoy the refinement of the engine and the transmission far more than any Audi I have driven to date -- Q7 included! Sure it rolls (its a SUV!) when I corner and it is geared differently, but it is very comfortable, refined, great sound / video system, nice leather etc. Does the job I want and does it well. I enjoy it differently than the A4.

FWIW, I got the A4 on a whim, while waiting for the Genesis Coupe 3.8 Track. Although I am older than most on this forum, and while I appreciate the A4 anbd what it does / can do, I like a true sports car better but unfortunately have other financial obligations at the same time -- and a wife that has ZERO understanding of modding!

After owning an A4, I can agree with you on the interior styling of the Genesis Coupe, but look at the people they are marketing this car to. They like it, I suppose. I kind of like the exterior.

    Hahaha ... yeah!

When they first announced the Coupe after the Sedan was released, that was the first thought that entered my mind. Imagine the performance!

IOW, what are you now splitting hairs about? If I dropped the "never" I still spoke to your point as if the "never" was there.

    AUDI or Hyundai???

Seems like a no-brainer to me.

no-brainer if you look at names, interior, and dont like the exterior of Hyundai......other then that i think Hyundai has the edge (good engine, price, good warranty, and probably more reliable then Audi)

If they do put a V8 in the Coupe it will not be the existing V8. It will not fit.

Those seats are nice. Way nicer than my A4. And these things are going to be beasts. Buscher Racing (an Evo king) has already started making parts for them.
