How are you liking your CVT multitronic transmission???

I am getting my cvt a4 saturday. How do you guys that have that car like it?

the only issue I have with it is that i can't accelerate much at start otherwise it burns out, and there is a delay when you start to accelerate slowly, car moves slowly and then kindda jumps after 1-2 seconds of delay

it's really annoying when you are in a slow moving/stopping traffic, I for example burned out couple couple of times not intentionally when in traffic behind a car with less than 100 meters space, not to mention other drivers looking at me like I'm a jerk lol

don't know if it's normal or a problem with my car tho

Yeah, that seems to be the characteristics of most CVT transmissions, I'm sure you'll eventually get used to it. If not, put it on "S" and forget about it!

In S, it's programmed to behave like a 6 speed automatic, instead of CVT. You can still drive conservatively under that setting - it'll simply give you a more predictable car.

i had a cvt on my last a4. it was neat for about the first 5 days, then it became very annoying. between the delayed starts, wheel spins and other random issues (hesistation at 23mph that they never could get rid of) i opted for the quattro this time around. to show you how much i avoided the cvt, i got the quattro base at the same price that i could have gotten the cvt with the entire premium package. it just wasnt worth it.

maybe the B8 is better. Even the B6 CVT is better than the B7... B7 has just too much lag in Drive and bad shiftings in S

I have the same magnaflow too and love it, you can usually get a used one on ebay or cragislist. I wanted a valid warranty so I got it here. Magnaflow 43414. Also some of the forum sponsors
selling magnaflow usually have a sale going on. Either way its a great exhaust system, sounds great, and very easy to install.

Anyways to the OP if i had a 2nd chance i wouldnt do CVT id do manual or maybe even tiptronic/quattro. Not CVT because its a weak tranny like mentioned earlier. And to the person that said the B8 CVT is different than the B7, where did you get this info? Id like to read more on this.

When you drive the CVT in manual mode, is it slower to accelerate? I would think since the CVT in auto mode keeps the engine in the optimal power band it would go faster, no?

Yeap, it auto shifts. I've forgotten to shift a couple times, thank god for auto shift.

I personally think CVT is a pretty cool transmission. They make for super smooth rides and awesome MPG :)

Lots of wheel spin for sure! I only have a tiny bit of torque steer after my APR ECU upgrade.

As far as acceleration in the different modes, D drive SHOULD be faster because it doesn't have to change simulated gears. It feels slower, but that's just because you don't full a sudden pull when changing gears.
