you are not going to get enough octane increase from that crap to use it with the 93 oct program. just run the 91 oct program until you can get a couple gallons of race fuel or toluene to bump up the oct.

Re: octane booster.. is it safe to run?

Those "boosters" are a marketing scam and only raise the octane by a small fraction of a point if at all. 91 may become 91.3 "104+ "what a completely misleading fictitious name.

The only way to really boost the octane is by running a race gas mix (which may ruin your cat if you run one) You can also do a meth injection to get the equivalent of a 100 octane set up.

Re: octane booster.. is it safe to run?

Huge waste of time and money. If you read the back of any octane booster package it will say it raises the fuel octane by so many points. Well guess what, points means .000 so it doesn't even raise it 1 full octane. If you want to run a 93 octane program use 100 octane mixed in with the 91 octane fuel to get it up to 93. If you want to run a 100 octane program run the fuel down and put straight 100 into the tank.

Re: octane booster.. is it safe to run?

Actually, there is one that has been tested and proven to raise octane by like 2-3 points. I think it was the NOS brand, the race version.

    EDIT: Here are the results

    ....and here's the article:

fwiw we got some tech letter at work about misfires and the deposit build up on spark plugs from octane boosters. I'd pass....

Re: octane booster.. is it safe to run?

I don't know man. If you look closely, It says

"amount added to 1 gallon of91 octane unleaded gasoline"

So .8 ounces were added to 1 gallon of 91. Which mean, a little more than 1 gallon was added to a 16 gallon gas tank, to get it anywhere close to its 93.7 octane rating.

If 1 bottle of that sucker costs say $10 for 12 ounces. You still need 4 more ounces to get it to the same mixture as they did in the TEST.

I don't know... is that WORTH IT?!

You're math's way off there champ. When did 12.8 ounces equal a little more than a gallon??

Guess you didn't look close enough either

    EDIT: FYI....... 1 gallon = 128 ounces.

"Excessive concentrations of these additives also damage emissions-control hardware, such as spark plugs, injectors, oxygen sensors and catalytic converters." -- from the link above.

The so called racing formulas (that are actually somewhat effective) aren't designed for modern street cars and their emission controls, and will probably mess up you car in the long run.

LOL, yeah isn't hard to figure out the math saying thats going to cost more then twice as much to get 15 gallons of 93.7 octane.

    14 gallons of 91 at $2.90 = $40.60
    1 gallon of Octane booster = $106.66
Total $144.66 for 15 gallons of 93.7 octane

    VS

    10 gallons of 91 at $2.90 = $29
    5 gallons of 100 at $8.00 = $40
    Total = $69 for 15 gallons of 94 octane

Even to make just 3 gallons of 94 its only going to cost $13.80

What is with you guys and your math????

It takes .8 fl oz of booster to make a gallon of 91 octane to have an octane rating of 93.7....

So, .8 x 16 = 12.8 fl oz. The octane booster is like $12 for a 12 fl oz bottle.

    Now, 16 gallons of 91 octane @ $2.90=$46.40
2 bottles of octane boost @ $12 per bottle=$24 which is more booster than needed

so, 16 gallons of 93.7 octane gas will cost a whopping $70.40. Not bad if you ask me

LOL, been a long 2 days in the sun playing in the pool with the kid.

I guess its not bad if you goal was to pay $4.40 a gallon for 93.7 octane.

I saw a video somewhere and they actually did dyno runs with the "octane boosters" and every brand they used decreased the horsepower by 2 including the nos brand.

    Torco Accelerator.

It plainly states on the bottle, add X oz to X gallons, get X octane.

FWIW, Torco also makes race gas, that you can find in drums, and at the pump.

Its a race gas concentrate, not an octane booster. We use it in the autox and we bump the timing and boost way up. Have not had any probs. I would not use it LONG term, but here and there, its fine.

But pretty much all of the other things out there that claim X points, etc, its not worth much. I have not hear nor tried the NOS brand.

    From their web site

Torco Accelerator is not just another fuel additive, It’s simply a
    RACE FUEL CONCENTRATE!

All this- while raising the octane of your fuel. Mix a 32oz can of Torco Accelerator to 10 gallons of 91 Premium Unleaded to make an efficient 102 octane race gas, mix with 5 gallons of premium unleaded to make whopping 105 Octane. Accelerator is unleaded, so it won’t harm sensitive O2 sensors or catalytic converters
1 quart comes out to $20.95
