Anyone have a picture of yellow brake calipers on their car preferably black car, I want to paint mine but am sorta hesitant of the ever so popular red. Wanted to try something a little different. Thanks as always

Yellow calipers will look good on a black car. Will stand out like crazy! I would only rock yellow calipers if i had a BBK though.

I agree. Only do yellow if you're going to go BBK.

    Re: Yellow calipers

These calipers look good black. It is a stock brake setup and it is not a Porsche, any flashy color like yellow, or the awful white that someone did the other day makes it look like you are trying way too hard.

    Re: Yellow calipers

i think red, yellow or any other flashy color should only be used on a BBK

black i think is ok though on stock brakes. i painted mine black and i love it, but it definitely doesnt pop at all. its kind of hidden since its black. its more of a mod that you only notice if you actually look and pay attention the brakes. but im sure its very noticable when the wheels are in motion. i wish i could get a picture of my car when driving to see what my brakes look like

    Stock Fronts

    S4 Rears

The car is yellow so for me it works. I painted them with silver caliper paint, then acutal colour matched auto paint, then I covered it with caliper clear. Been holding up great!

    Re: Yellow calipers

I like my yellow calipers. I don't get the "trying way too hard reference", I guess I could say the same thing for the guys rocking Bently rims on VW's and Gallardo rims on Audi's. I think it's more the size of the calipers you're painting that makes a difference. I'm really not huge on trying to make tiny calipers pop by being painted.

    Re: Yellow calipers

My B6 S4 calipers were yellow when I bought them...the reason I stripped it off was because the brake dust clashed way too much...and I don't have the patience to clean the brake calipers every week. But I do like the color FWIW

The reference refers to the exact same thing you said at the end of your post. I don't know why you don't get it. Making small stock calipers stand out with yellow or white or some other flashy color isn't my taste, especially the tiny rears. Save that for the Honda crowd.

I could have an Audi logo across my windshield and it would still not be as heinous as your calipers.

If our calipers were as small as Hondas', your statement would apply. As it is, the review from the masses, is that it looks fine. Most people, even when the calipers were black, thought they were huge. When I tell them they're stock, many comment on how large they are for stock brakes. I've had more compliments than insults, so whatever.

Wow...when did having a badge claiming you have something you do, in fact, have become rice? I guess according to you, everyone's car should just be left completely bone stock, because every little modification is becoming rice. The guy I see rocking stickers all over his car may not be my taste, but if he pops his hood and he is packing everything he's advertising, then I have no right to talk shit. It may not be MY personal taste to do that, but to each his own at that point.

Point taken, I know that our front calipers are large, I just don't like making stock brakes stand out so vividly.

    Re: Yellow calipers

I think the basic idea is that by painting stock calipers colors like red, yellow, etc, the owner is attempting to trick people into thinking he has a Brake upgrade, when in fact it's just a visual mod with no real value. I compare it to attaching larger exhaust tips to a stock exhaust. You get the "look" of a performance exhaust, but no benefit.

That being said, I painted mine black because the stock gray looked like ass. Now they look nicer behind my ti wheels.

So do what you want, but people are going to have opinions when stuff is posted on a public forum.

Yeah, so that means side skirts of any kind, S-Line bumpers on Non-Sline cars, complete S-Line exterior conversions, pretty much ANY part from an S4 on an A4, Carbon Fiber add-0ns, ,etc. are all gay because they're visual mods with NO added benefit. I didn't paint my calipers so people would think I had a brake upgrade. I know damn well I don't have one and anyone who thinks I do I immediately correct. But you're right, people complimenting your ride because of a particular mod you've done is definitely the very example of "NO added value".

You missed the point. Correct me if I'm wrong, but door blades and bumpers are not performance oriented. Brakes on the other hand are, and you're painting them bright colors so people will think you have a brake upgrade, when you don't. That's all I'm saying. One of those opinion thingys, you know?

To me (and this is my opinion and doesn't reflect on you, so save your overly sensitive reply...above), brightly painted stock calipers are the same thing as throwing an S4 badge on an A4. You're representing something as something that it's not. Whether you agree or not, that's fine. Public forum.

I agree. Very well put. Street cred and form over function. These all play into what folks who are smart and wise understand about "mods" This directly affects the comments. Paint and tack on items make your car look like it belongs in a carnival or kiddy park. Not on a car. Paint on a turd is still paint on a turd.

Yeah, my car is SUCH a turd and I have NO performance mods whatsoever. Painting your calipers, IMO is a cosmetic mod. It can actually help your rims "pop" a bit more. That's why I did mine. We're not talking about slapping an S4 badge on an A4 here. Also, my analogy was perfectly applicable to this debate. If you add any of those mods I listed, by your definition, you're trying to "act as if", plain and simple. Try to argue all you want, you're just wrong...why can't you all just say "Not my preference" or "I don't like it". Not everyone does this trying to make everyone else think they have something they don't.
