I am looking for help finding a product to help remove the orange spots I am seeing on my white car. These are not coming off with regular hand washing. Any products i can pick up at autozone to help take these off?

Re: Removing Orange Spots on White Car

took me about 6-7hrs today to strip clay and seal my car but man did it come out good. I couldnt be happier. I used the turtle wax ice kit and it worked amazing. the car is cleaner than the day i picked it up, there is not a spot to be found on it. thanks for the help and recommending the clay bar.

Re: Removing Orange Spots on White Car

Great advice by all here. The orange spots that almost look like rust are most easily seen on white cars and are caused by industrial fallout in the air that bonds to the paint.

They are most easily removed by using clay. Great tips!

chemical decontamination is the only way to fully get rid of it for good. claying it is only a temporary fix, the rust spots will return. clay shears off the top level with the paint, the remainder is left in the paint. chemical decon will remove it completely from the paint.

Are you talking about actual rust spots, or industrial fallout? It is my understanding (and I could be wrong) that clay will completely remove industrial fallout. Rust is a different issue though.

    To which were you referring?

does clay bar go all the way through the clear coat and paint?

    Or is it clearcoat safe?

Depends on the aggressiveness of the clay. None of it goes all the way through, but the more aggressive clays can mar the paint top layer. Just look for a mildly aggressive clay.

industrial fallout / rail dust imbedded in the paint cause the orange spots (rust plumes). they are mere metals particles imbedded in the paint and need to be completely removed to avoid have them reappear. clay bars can only remove what is above/on the surface. fallout or rail dust that has become imbedded in the paint needs to be removed with chemicals. clay bars would only be a temporary fix in this case. clay bars simply can not remove what is imbedded into the paint. i use and like clay bars but it has its limitations, in this case i would look towards chemical decon. and yes real rust is a different problem.

CarPro IronX Soap Gel is a unique and innovative product that is a non-marring alternative to detailing clay that cleans and at the same time removes iimbedded iron metal particles and contaminates from the clear coat matrix. This is a highly effective, acid-free and pH corrected (pH 6) paint surface and glass cleaner (safe for all painted surfaces including aluminium and alloys). Use as a car wash on a regular basis (quarterly or as necessary) on white or light colour paint finishes

Have you or anyone else on this forum used this product to wash the car and actually see orange specs and dirt specs that appear stuck on the bumper (a car wash and other products havent got it out such as swirl mark remover) be removed by this ironx soap gel?

we use to sell the product you can get the same results with using Iron Cut or Wolf's Deironizer Gel.

    it will not remove swirls.

Now that I have learned more about detailing since my first post in 2009, the Iron X is really the way to go! I still clay bar afterward but it is not that much of a chore anymore.

I've found that a clay bar works great for me to remove those pesky orange iron deposits!
