Headlight tab repair kit, any good?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'm about to get a good deal on a OEM HID headlight with bulb and ballast included. Now, only catch is that the top two tabs are broken. I found the appropriate tab repair kit. So the questions, is it pretty easy to repair the broken tabs and how well does it hold up? Thanks.

I used one on my last set of ecodes. Install took less than 5 minutes and I never had a problem with it.

Bumping from the dead. I just checked my headlight, I have 1 broken tab on the passenger side headlight... I don't see screws in there holding the tab piece on ? Am I missing something, the repair kit on ECS
http://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B6_A4-...lights/ES3252/ shows 2 small Phillips screws. The tab piece on my headlight seems to be molded... Any help ?

Original tabs are part of the headlight housing. In order to use repair kit you will have to cut the one tab that's still left on the headlight.

Can anyone confirm this ? If I cut the remaining tab... the molded bar is still in place, the part pictured on ECS website..

Anyone know about fixing broken rear tabs?

Cut the tab and make sure the molded bar stays in tact. The repair kit will sit up against the molded bar perfectly, then two little screws will secure the repair kit to that molded bar.

Eeezy squeezy and works very well.

Sorry to chime in on this a bit late, but yes - pretty much exactly what greg said. These B6 tab kits mount to that existing bar and hold everything secure. I know it seems odd to remove the good tab, but that is how the kit is designed. Keep in mind, the kit is for one headlight only, you'd need one for each side and they are side specific.

Interesting. Thanks for the information everyone. Hey Chris can you tell me the kit I should go with? I saw a 40 dollar one and a 130 dollar one lol. It's the left headlight top right tab on an 05 s4 single xenon.

Also is there any tab repair kits for the bottom holders? Thanks.

Sure, just go with this left side kit. These kits are all you should need. As far as I know these are the only tab kits we have available too.

Anyword about fixing a broken bottom piece where the headlight screws down ?

Okay sounds good. Just the screws into the molded piece and I'm set? Do I need any adhesive ?

I'm not familiar with a bottom tab replacement. As for adhesive, it isn't necessary.
