broke a tab on the fuel line connector, wil this cause problems?

when I was removing the fuel lines today to replace my fuel filter I broke one of the little tabs you push in on the fuel line connector. The line looks like it snaps on, but I'm wondering if I should replace this connector?

I broke one when I changed my fuel filter. I ended up replacing the hose/connector because there was a drip when I started the car from the broken piece. Better safe than sorry...

^how much did that cost you? i was told it would run me $1K to swap the lines running from the fuel filter forward.

looking at the line, it looks like I can just replace the connector (instead of the line + connector). the connector I broke was toward the rear of the car, looks like the input side? any idea how much the connector/line costs? I wish I had a battery in my car so I could start it and look..I only broke the locking tab, so I'm not sure if it'll cause problems

Yup. I'm guessing this is a quote from a dealership. I broke the connector on the vent line from the filter to the fuel tank and was quoted over $1100 to replace the line by the dealership I went to. I was told that the driveshaft, exhaust and fuel tank need to be dropped to replace the vent line. Labor is the killer.

Check around at various repair shops in your area. Maybe one will have a vinyl/plastic(whatever they're made of) fuel line repair kit and might not have to drop the fuel tank to replace the connector. The company Dorman makes a repair kit with connectors, slices, tubing etc. for like $200-$250 so repair kits for this sort of thing are out there.

I couldn't say if splicing in a new connector vs replacing the complete line is a good idea or not? (comments anyone?) I did not have to replace the connector on my car as of yet. Luckily for me only the tabs were broken. The connector actually snapped back on the fuel filter fitting securely without leaking. I will repair it once I figure out weither splicing in a new connector would be advisable or not.

The dealer told me they couldn't swap out connectors, due to the material of the line. if i knew where the filter-forward lines went, i'd attempt it myself, but oh well.

I had to buy the connector and the hose. I do not recall the exact price, but it was only $20-$30 for the connector and hose (comes as one piece). The one I broke connects to one of the metal lines heading to the engine, so not that far from the filter. Replacement was easy, definitely not a $1k job.

Can you pull it off without squeezing the tabs? The system is run at high pressure so if you can remove it by hand it will definitely blow off.

    Good Luck.
