How rare are S4 Avants?

Hey guys,

I barely see any B6 Avants around here on Long Island, and have seen maybe one or two B6 S4 Avants at all.

Does anyone have a number/count of how many S4 Avants were sold in the USA for the 2004 and 2005 model years?

No production or sales #'s for you, but there are a lot of them around here (Seattle area)

Can't be too many out there. I would think it would be less than 5000 each year...

for 2007, there were a total of 200 s4 avants sold. 72 of which were manuals.

if you call audi of america, they can break down the sales figures for you.

i'd guess there are less than 5000 s4 avants for the entire b6/b7 production run in the U.S.

If the B6 S4 Avant is somewhat rare on LI (and I agree it is), then the B5 S4 Avant is damn near extinct - in almost 2yrs of owning mine, I've only seen 1 (count 'em, 1) other B5 Avant on the roads of LI period (and that was an A4) - if there are other B5 S4 Avants on LI, they must all be in hibernation mode.

It just doesnt seem like an Avant/sport wagon culture out here on LI.

FWIW, I definitely think its less than 5000. There were only 5000 VW R32's made (the MkIV variety) and I see them around almost daily.

I didn't know that the B5 S4 Avants were a rare breed too! Cool!

Definitely not - apparently "wagons" of any sort still have a lot of that "soccer mom" or "your grandparents' car" stigma attached to them.

Well, from what I recall, Audi only sold about 1,200 - 1,400 B5 S4 Avants in the entire US between 2001 - 2002 (the only yrs avail in the US), so it's def a rare bird, even moreso on LI it seems. But do I feel lonely and forgotten - hell no! (all the others out there don't know what they're missing...)

Theres a white B6 USP one that drives 120 miles a day on LI roads....I wouldnt now who that is though.

He may even have a B5 avant soon too.

I was originally asking about S4 Avants, but the USP Avant isn't that common either....

Well I can account for 1 more B5 S4 Avant on Long Island.

I've seen less than a handful since I bought my car back in 02...and all were stock. Definitely a rare car around here...and I have no problem with that.

looking at what I can find on other sites, there might have been as many as 1200 or as few as 540 B6 S4 Avants sold here. That seems a little low though.....in the entire USA ONLY 540 B6 S4 Avants? We should start some sort of registry or something to keep track...

To put it in perspective for you. I've been actively looking for an S4 avant for over 6 months and the few that come along are either too old, have too many miles on them or brand new at near $50K. Also a lot of them are already moded or beat to hell. I search nationwide and the few good ones I've found get purchased pretty fast... One more problem is that most of them are silver or black(kind a bored with the silver at least), so I'd say yes they are pretty rare in fact I am sure that in time they will become a collector's car. All S4 Avants have been an innovative concept that now Saab, Cadillac, Chrysler and many others are following. A true sports wagon that kicks ass... IMHO

I know what you mean, took me 6 months to find mine, and finally got lucky and found mine just an hour after the dealer put it on autotrader.

Wow I prob see 3-4 avants every day! Keep in mind I live in Utah and all wheel drive wagons are a must for all the mormon moms haha. I fit right in!

in ct and the entire tri state area I have seen about 3 b5 s4 avants in teh last 2 months , they are a few around but not as many as used to be, I think more people out west bought them at first, as for B6/B7 I have seen just A4 ones and only one S4 avant in Ct.

to me they are super rare. I am getting an b7 sprint blue s4 avantnext week and ive never seen one before. To me they are almost more rare then veyrons because ive seen about 4 of them.

Not rare, not numerous. Some colors (like Imola) are rare on the Avant.
