Anyone own a Buick Rendezvous

Wife is thinking about gettig one from 2003-05 wanted to get some feedback from you guys, pro's and cons. They seem to be going pretty cheap and consumer reviews seem to be good. We just found out were having twins and don't want a mini van and need to upgrade the compact car..also if there are any crossover's that are reasonably prices used that you would recommened...thanks

My GF has one. I want to say it's an 03 or 04. It has 117K on it and it still runs pretty decent. Fuel mileage sucks(20city, 24hwy), it's as aerodynamic as a tank and not designed for roadhead at all.

It still has the good ol' 3400SFI engine, so expect to deal with the lower intake gasket problems.

They're about as cheap as they come to maintain (if you turn your own wrenches) but they're not really built for the long haul like an import would be.

Why not get a B5 Avant A4 with a V6(or even Passat/Jetta/etc). Then maintenance won't be a complete whore and you won't have to worry about the wife frying the turbo?

It's your call, but I'd hate to see you make a decision you'll regret.

You're actually considering buying one of the most hideous cars to come out of GM since hte Aztek? Just because it's cheap and utilitarian doesn't outweigh the negatives of ownership, such as the ugliness of it and the lack of any kind of sportiness (not that crossovers are sporty at all).
I'd more recommend a Murano or FX Infiniti.. They're better looking and performing and can be had for fairly cheap nowadays. Acura MDX's are decent looking and actually have an interior to be proud of, unlike the Buick's. Toyota Highlanders aren't that bad either, as well as an RX300 or even a RX330 if they're cheap enough.

i work on these cars all the time. Nothing but trouble, but maybe thats because the owners never really take care of them.
I would have to say that body is very ugly and the interior is about a 4 out of 10.
They have good motors if they are maintained.

You should look for like a rav4 or crv.

well it's going to be wifes car so looks are up to her and we need it for the extra seats...all the suv's you guys mentioned only sit's 5.

edit: what about a trailblazer? same chassis as the rendezvous, better body.. even an older tahoe would work for you. seats 7..

acura is probably going to be out of the price range...i really like the trailblazer and have been trying to convince her to get that but she's stuck on the buick
