Audi R8 or New Aston Martin V8 Vantage

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hi guys, I know this might not be the best place to ask this, but i would love to hear what your choice would be between the Audi R8 and 2009 aston Martin V8 vantage (with new interior).
I'm thinking of getting either one of this lovely machines to add to my beautiful 2009 Audi S5.
I'm kind of looking for a very beautiful, luxury but also sporty pick.
All your opinion would be greatly appreciated.

Thats a tough choice......I envy you.

Faced with the choice, I would probably get the Aston. IMO they make some of the best looking cars that I've seen.

I would think that the R8 would handle better though, having a mid-engined V8 vs. the Aston's front mounted V8.

    It's a win - win situation though!

this is def a win win. i've driven an R8, and it was amazing. and motor trend named it the best handling car. and it's got the looks too.

but an aston is my dream car. so i'd get that. you've already got an audi! :)

on the other hand, i imagine an S5 and a vantage would be pretty similar. front engine touring coupes, with luxurious interior. the R8 would make a nice change of pace.

hands down, i'd take the R8 ... and i'm not saying that just because it's an Audi. it's just the car that is more me. to me, Astons have always been missing what i crave, and what i crave is something primal. the only thing that compares to the R8 for me is the F430. funnily enough, i'd take an F355 over all of them ...
    Because S4 = Hooker
Both can be purchased for cheap, and after one night of reckless, risky fun, either can be found lifeless on the side of the road. Your family is disappointed and concerned once they find out you've picked one up. Not to mention you try to hide how much money you routinely give one from your significant other.

Always loved the 355 convertibles... My current dream car would be the Aston One-77. They do make some beautiful cars. I've never sat in an Aston, but I love the R8's interior, it just fit me well. I can't afford any of these, but what a choice.

I think it depends on what you want from the car and what you are going to use it for. I think the Aston is more primal, I found the R8 to be a great daily driver, if you can afford one as such. I think the Aston is prettier as well. But the R8 does handle so amazingly, and I think it has great potential. I hope they'll have the V10 version at an Audi Experience, I really want to drive that on the track, especially as the V8 version was already so much fun at Infineon raceway.

Why not a 12 Cylinder DB9? You can get 2005-07s between 75-100k now. (for coupes) Now that is an amazing car. (My father has one and I have driven it numerous times)

Those are two different cars: R8 is a true super car, designed to compete with Ferraris, Lambos and Zondas (just look how the rear suspension is designed, where the engine is mounted etc.), and Aston is a classic GT car - a more upmarket S5.

    Exactly.
The similarities end after the fact that they're 2 door coupes.

On the one hand I'd say R8, to provide a change from your S5.
But you also said you want something beautiful, luxurious, and sporty... that's the Aston.

I like the Audi and the R8, but for the money it wouldn't even be on my list.

The Aston Martin is stunningly beautiful. That's a tough choice. And they've upgraded the engine to a 4.7 instead of the 4.3 that was in it before. I wish that was my biggest problem. lol.

Those Aston interiors look like Fords to me. I think its the steering wheel. Fix that and they'd be much more paletable.

However, for the money, the Porsche 997 Turbo would be on my list.

Tough choice I always loved the looks of the aston martins though. I would probably go with the aston martin not for any particular reason but since I'll probably never get to make that decision anyway I can't imagine what that choice is like haha.

Re: Audi R8 or New Aston Martin V8 Vantage

I had the pleasure of renting an Aston Martin V8 Vantage in Vegas last week for a quick trip to Anaheim and I must say...im almost tempted to ditch the S5 and get a used Vantage. What a car!! Sounds amazing, awesome power, and looks great!
