19" Tires with XL Load Rating AND 95 Load Index

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Very few 19" tires (235/35/19 or 245/35/19) have both an XL Load Rating AND a 95 Load Index that our cars require. Let me know what tires you have found that meet both requirements and note whether they are 235 or 245. Thanks

Yes it meets 1 out of the 2 requirements. It is not either or it is BOTH 95 and an XL. I do appreciate you trying to help though.

Not that I can see on the Michelin website. I am sure a lot of people aren't running the correct load index AND load rating and that is fine for them. I have searched a lot and was hoping maybe someone could show me a tire that meets both the 95 load index AND XL load rating in a 19" tire. Thanks

Re: 19" Tires with XL Load Rating AND 95 Load Index

95 is part of the service description of the tire and represents Load Index. Here is a good link to show you the scale: http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/infoLoadIndex.dos

Our S4 need that 95 index as well as the XL "stamp" for eXtra Load which is completely separate from the 95. Again, I'm sure not a lot of people have both 95 and XL in a 19" because they aren't easy to find. Maybe someone can help me out. I can easily find 18" stock tire size with the 95 and XL just no 19" in our sizing.

yes, i would have to agree with you that not many on here run tires with the proper load index AND correct load rating. doing so (for those who don't know) sometimes end up like this:

X-post this in the tire forum and get some feedback from Doc. I have a cab and run XL tires, I think load is only rated at 93. Why would TireRack recommend something that isn't the right load rating? I think we just need XL.

In my searches Doc@TireRack has said "Both 95 AND XL" are required because of the documentation Audi has provided. Look on the inside of the door post and you can see for yourself on the placard. I'm on my bb so I can dig up the post when I get to a pc later tonight. This is getting more and more interesting.

I want to clarify that I am not debating if you can/should/did go lower than 95 AND XL. Simply looking for 19" that meet audi's requirements. Thanks for joining the discussion hopefully we can get this squared away.

Please understand I'm not trying to debate either...

I'm more worried because my car is heavier than the sedans and I want to be safe.

    The plot thickens...

Not on the Michelin website, here are the only 4 tires that have the XL load ratings in the 19" size that would fit the S4. Notice that the load index varies between 91 and 93. Where are you finding a 95 Load Index and XL Load Rating? The search continues...

    directly from the manufacturer's website:

On a side note, the PS2 93y XL is rated at like 1365lbs. You could put a Corolla on your roof and still be well with in the tire's load capacity.

let's try to stick to facts and not opinions. the task is to find a 19" tire with BOTH 95 load index and XL load rating.

thanks for your input. i think you are correct, any insight on 245/35/19? with these dimensions it seems it is impossible to design a tire to a 95 XL spec. i made the assumption that since so many people run 19's on their b6/b7 S4s at least a few of them would actually meet the audi requirements for load index and load rating.

because we all came oem on 18's, so they can set that "requirement". 18's are XL & 95 or higher in oem size

RS's come oem with 255/35/19 (which I just bought) which meet these requirements. go with 255/35's.

i know all about the oem 18" size.
i know there are other sized 19" tires that can be both 95 AND XL.

BUT the task was to find a 235 or a 245 wide tire with a profile of 35 and a diameter of 19" that has both 95 and XL.

thanks for trying, let's keep this on topic though.

A very interesting discussion and well done to Swanky for keeping it on point. I joined this forum on the basis of this thread as I am considering upgrading to 19" alloys for my S4 B6 Avant.

I have been conducting a similar search and can't appear to find both criteria being met. In the absence of both criteria being met, Swanky and others, I was wondering what you have done instead, if anything.

Admittedly, I was unaware of the requirement for both XL and 95 and have run XL tires only ... Hankook K104's previously and now PS2's.

I searched and I believe 93 with 245 XL is the best you are going to get. Continental has 255ZR/35/19 in 96Y though. Dont know the width of your tire but that isn't too wide

those are ContiSportContact 2s btw and if you go 40 on the width you will get the rating you want so I guess its either rating or width cause that tire for sure doesnt exist

Re: 19" Tires with XL Load Rating AND 95 Load Index

I have a set of Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position 245/35/19's that are rated 93 XL. I purchased them at Tirerack. They were very helpful in finding the closest load rating I could get in a brand and size I wanted. I realize that you want a 95 rating, but give them a call,I bet they can come up with a set for you.

edit: sorry, didn't realize this was an older post. Swanky probably has his tires already!
