Those of you running 225/35/19's on your A4....

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
What have been your impressions of the ride quality and wear on them? I have 235/35's on the rear of my car, which are RS6 reps 19x9's...I need to replace my 235's since they are "cupped"...
I dont mind some stretch since the 235's rub on some dips and going up driveways.

    TIA!

Same as you Obvis, it depends on the wheel (mine are silver) so the contrast from the wheel to tire it does look really stretched (not ghetto overly stretched, but you can see in my recent pics)

After seeing them , i would probably go 35's on my next set

I would highly recommend you don't do that, a 225 tire is designed for a 7-7.5 inch wheel. Besides looking hideous your wheels lips are a lot more vulnerable.

i run 225/35/19 Falken 452's on 19x9 RS6 wheels at all 4 corners, my cars quattro, i think the stretch is awesome and my car is pretty dumped so i needed it to clear fenders, and anyone who says "225 is designed for a 7" rim...." Falken approves and so do some other tire manufacturers such as Toyo that a 225 tire can be put safely on a 9" wide wheel.... they ride fine and the wear is fine because i have a proper alignment and check my tire pressure regularly..

I used to run Falkens, but they ruined their tires when they replaced the fk451 with the fk452 (which is a good tire, but doesn't stretch well).

I run Dunlop Direzzas now on my 19x9 Lorinsers. The ride is just fine. If you know how to park and don't curb your wheels you have nothing to worry about.

I never said they tell u to stretch. What I meant is their websites put the rim range for a 225/35/19 tire between a 7.5-9". That means the tire is tested and approved to safely run on a 9" wide wheel. Sorry if my earlier post was confusing

Wanted to bring this one back from the dead to see who all out there is still rolling with a setup like this!!??? 225 35 19x8.5 specifically...? I know Doc from tirerack warns that the tires must be XL because of the weight, and people running stretched need to be hyper-vigilant about tire pressure, but who has real-life experience here rolling with this setup!

Re: Those of you running 225/35/19's on your A4....

well....I am running 225/35/19 with 88w, i never had ANY problems, but have heard that is is dangerous and could be more prone to popping, etc.. The ride was not bad coupled with my suspension.

Lots of people run this set up and have no problems, but this time around going to be running 235/35/19 on my wheels, still a minor stretch just not as much as 225. Hell VW guys are nuts and run 205, but their car's are lighter...still 50/50 on what I might do.

good bump, perfect timing before i order my tires tomorrow :D

Re: Those of you running 225/35/19's on your A4....

I'm running 225/35/19 on 8.5x19 all round, apart from one 235/35/19 on one corner as I had an incident & needed a tyre the same day on a Sunday & that's all I could get... it's soon to be replaced with another 225

There isn't much in the way of stretch on the 8.5 - I think it looks perfect:

Unfortunately the roads/kerbs in the UK are terrible (pot holes/misaligned/cobbles) so the wheels have taken a bit of a beating. I've had them on for over a year so I think once the weather starts getting better, I'll swap them for something else.

Anyway - back on point - 225/35/19 is perfectly fine on an 8.5

I run 235/35/19 on a 8.5" wheel, they are Nitto Invos. I know a bunch of other people in the valley rock that size too, if you're planning on going to the VividRacing dyno day on Saturday I'm sure you'll get plenty of opinions :) I'd give you a ride in my car then, but I won't be able to make it :( The Invos are great though, a great street tire, real quiet and smooth, but plenty of stickiness for more spirited driving

would be a bit more bigger, not sure if you could run 22/40/19 though check the tire calculator to see how off you will be.
