    spark plugs coming loose...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I am having a few plugs come loose after a few weeks of use. The coil pack isn't coming up or anything just the plug itself. Anyone else have this issue and what are some solutions to stop it. Example: my first cylinder is the worse, the second not as bad, and finally the third which isn't as bad as the second. No problems with the fourth at all.

Uh, of course I did that. Question was has anyone else had this issue thru driving and the solution to fix it without the use of adhesion.

And dumbass??? Pick a subject and lets see who the dumbass is...

Have you torqued the plugs on a cold engine? Some people say it is better to do it when the engine is cold. I don't know if it would make a difference though.

    Re: spark plugs coming loose...

i had an issue w/ #1. it took about a year after i changed the plugs but #1 coil pack kept popping up. i pulled the coil, and sure enough, plug was loose... i just tightened it and put it back together... no probs since..tho it has only been about 2 weeks now
<--------yes, i used my audi to drag my deer out of the woods. it was heavy, i was cold, car had heat, much less work, and frankly, it was far. the deer was big, i am not, just seemed like the right thing to do. if it werent for the apr2+ i may not have been able to pull that monstrosity out of the woods w/out a helicoptor. i cant afford a helicoptor, i have a hard enough time affording my audi. all this being said, yes. that is an apr2+ awd audi pulling a deer out of the woods.

Yep, did it and checked it with engine cold. It makes a huge difference in driving, felt like I lost power and I was mashing the throttle more and more. Sure enough loose. I tq'd them pretty hard with a cold engine so we'll see. Just curious what others have done to help it. I researched some stuff that drag cars use to keep from exploding their plugs but would be afraid I wouldn't get them out or something strange like that.

    Re: spark plugs coming loose...

If they are coming loose with the proper torque spec (~22 lb/ft) then try replacing the spark plugs with new ones that have sealing rings/washers. Also take a light and check to see if the threads in the head are still looking good and not stripped. Always torque plugs down on a cold motor if possible.
