    Rieger/Fox exhaust arrived

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
My axle back exhaust and valence from Rieger showed up today, but still waiting on my car. Figured I would take some photos to get some thought on how I should paint the valence. Either color match to car (Phantom Black) or have some lighter color on the center area around the pipes. Here are some pics of the system.

    Re: Rieger/Fox exhaust arrived

This is really only a "axle back" exhaust system vs. a "cat back" system -- ??

Any claimed performance improvements for the Fox system? It does look very nice.

+1 on wanting to hear an audio clip once you get it installed...

    Re: Rieger/Fox exhaust arrived

So it's only an axle back? How much did the valence and the exhaust cost you? Wow, I just checked the dealer for my area's site and it's $2000 for the quad tip muffler and $611 for the valence)

    Re: Rieger/Fox exhaust arrived

$1799 for the exhaust on this website: http://www.namotorsports.net/detail....rt_cd/FX235781

Also, the valence is $530 (S-Line) or $575 (non S-Line).

I have no affiliations, just was digging around for the exhaust and valence for my car. Hope this helps save you some money.

Glad you got it! Thank you again for the order and I can't wait to see it installed.

We did have a customer in Texas do the full kit and exhaust, but we have not heard any sound clips or seen any pictures of the car.

So is this actually cat-back? Maybe it's just the fore-shortening of the photos but there doesn't seem to be enough plumbing there...

Where in TX? Love to see/hear this installed...

    Re: Rieger/Fox exhaust arrived

Look at the plumbing differences (even from the axle-back) between a Stasis cat-back (shown via link from 'PESAPC's' sweet Avant) and the Rieger/Fox axle-back and you'll see that the Rieger setup is certainly only a cosmetic improvement over stock.

    http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...=253154&page=8

I think it'll look great but REALLY expensive for just an axle-back using stock diameters. I'm interested in how it'll sound.

    Re: Rieger/Fox exhaust arrived

Not yet, I just got a call that my car will be here Thursday. I will try to get the exhaust on sometime next week. It all depends on how long the shop will need to paint the valence. I think paint matching the sides and then having the center area around the pipes matched to the front S-line blade will look good. What you guys think?

That sounds like the right idea.

    Re: Rieger/Fox exhaust arrived

    NAM, check your PM's.

Do you have any information as to the gains attributed strictly to the installation of the Rieger / Fox exhaust (i.e. not in combination with a GIAC, or similar, tune)?

Inquiring minds want to know. $1700 for a cosmetic upgrade to my exhaust isn't worth it to me, so I need to know upfront...check that, $2300 since I have to buy the new valence to support the exhaust installation.

    Re: Rieger/Fox exhaust arrived

I was informed by a Rieger / Fox exhaust distributor that the exhaust is indeed not a cat-back exhaust and that Rieger has made no power gain claims. It was also stated that this exhaust is merely for aesthetics / sound. Not to mention that a new rear valence is needed to properly fit this exhaust, raising the price to about $2400.

That is quite a high price to pay for an exhaust that doesn't give any power gains considering the APR exhausts are in the $1100 range and do give power gains. Just my two cents.

Our website clearly states this a rear muffler section only, we have never said it is a cat-back exhaust. Regarding the power gains on the 2.0T motor, the real gains come from the downpipe more than the cat-back section.

As I said in my PM to you, Rieger/Fox has not provided us with any horsepower numbers on this exhaust. Many people want the quad look to go with the Rieger rear apron which is why we sell it. I think the car will look stunning once it's on!

I think the confusion lies from the fact that the opening post of this thread called it a "cat back".

    Re: Rieger/Fox exhaust arrived

Notice that I never used anyone's name...thus not throwing anyone under the bus. I also never claimed that your website mislead anyone into believing it was a cat-back exhaust. I merely stated what you told me, without mentioning who it was. I am fully aware of what this exhaust is comprised of, how it fits on, etc.

I just stated my opinion regarding its price as compared to other exhausts on the market. There is no question that it looks stunning.

Back to an earlier question I had though, and that is: How does it sound? Does it have a throatier sound than the APR exhaust for the B7?

    Re: Rieger/Fox exhaust arrived

Going to get the rear apron painted tomorrow, and then maybe i can have the exhaust installed by this weekend. Also I know this was kind of expensive but it looks better than all the other systems, imo. I know there maybe no gains in power but I am not really into hp gains and tracking the car, at least right now.
