Tint Ticket :( but no meter??

I just got a tint ticket. Does anyone know if they need to meter the car to give me a ticket? Because the officer did not use a meter just gave me a ticket. It doesnt sound right to me. Plus, he just pulled me over for tint and nothing else.

If your tint is illegal I don't even one why your asking this. No matter what they are going to get you. Go complain at the precint and another cop will meter you an give you a ticket. It's a lose lose situation

waht is the law in your state and what % do you have. if it is obdviously illegal, i dont see why he would have to use the tint meter

have pics of the car b4 u got tinted?? if so save it on thumb drive go to walmart print that bish... and tell the judge u bought the car like that and was unaware of them being illegal there for u took them off... CASE DISMISSED.....

His photo gallery shows 15% tint if you were in maryland then the law is Must allow more than 35% of light in.

you cant do that, a ticket like that requires proof of correction, if you have to go to court you will have a court official in uniform come out and charge you to inspect it, in CA having tint on your front window is Probable cause to pull you over and cite you, the cop that did was just a dick trying to bring in revenue for his city... you gotta rip it off and then get it retinted or i dont know if they allow you to do this depending on if the ticket was written up a (moving violation) or (parking violation), you might just be able to pay the fine as a delinquent ticket and keep your tint... kinda sucks for those who get caught with it lol

Yeah my friends get pulled over occasionally for this but the cops here just tend to give warnings.. not much you can do unfortunately

Here in Fl, dark tint is PC for a traffic stop. If we cant see in the car, the tint is too dark. You dont need a meter to write a tint ticket.

The question is did he give you a fix it ticket or an actual ticket ?

I got a fix it ticket so if i dont fix it i lose my registration in 30 days.

yeah in NY, 70% is the legal limit so there is no questioning if you get pulled over for tint.

I do agree with your whole point as an FYI... if your car is illegal just expect to get the ticket and pay up and shut up... Ohio's Tint law is 50% so it really worthless to tint your car... basically ANYTHING is illegal... Here the cops rarely (in fact I've never heard of it happening) stop you just for tint... it is normally just tacked on to the violation... maybe I shouldn't be a dick to the cops so they won't tack that shit on (I've never been pulled over with this car and my last one didn't have tint)

hmm i live in maryland part time and i have either 20 or 25% on my car and have been pulled over a few times with it they never said anything. i always roll down all 4 windows when the cop approaches lol maybe that makes them forget

but i had always heard that illegal tints were a secondary offense ie something you could get a ticket for but not pulled over for

you should look that up and if thats the case definitely argue it.

i take trips from vtech back to annapolis at least every month and have never had any problems. guess its just the luck of the draw (knock on wood)

Lucky indeed - I've been pulled over twice in the past for JUST tint, in VA. I'm done with that and I'm perfectly happy with my 35%.

Agreed. I've never been hassled for my tints... Also, my girlfriend has 5 or 10% on her back windows and 20% on her fronts and it's damn near impossible to see anything out the back at night.

I haven't been pulled over in my car (knock on wood) but I have always planned to roll down my windows if I ever get pulled over. If the cop asks why I rolled them down, I plan to say something like, "well my windows are tinted and I wanted to make sure you could see in my car to make sure you are safe while approaching the car." I have always gone by the thought process of show them respect and hopefully it will help you out in the end... So far I'm 1 for 2 getting out of tickets using my theory.

I got pulled over in Austin once for speeding in a Nissan 240SX with 20% front tint. I usually roll both windows down automatically so they wouldn't meter it, but the cop had me roll up the window, pulled out his meter and showed me the number and wrote me the 3tickets. One for speeding, one for tint, and one for no front plate. I just paid the tint and plate ticket and did deffered judification and didn't fix my car. I never got another ticket and had that setup for 5 years. I currently have 35% front now and 15% in the back, can't see much at night, but I've had it like that in all my cars. I haven't had a front plate on my car here in Texas in 11 years and that was the only ticket I ever received for no plate. (Knocks on wood) Soo, I would say to just pay the ticket and not fight about it. Just hope you don't get pulled over again.

there isn't any regulation on tint in the back windows... at least in Ohio... that's why Limos are able to get away with straight black windows... any tint on the front window is illegal and the front side windows in ohio is 50% most states 35%

theres a process for a reason. No matter how mundane it is, they have meters for a reason. You can't write tickets on assumption. The cop made an assumption his tints werent legal, and willfully neglected to use the provided tools to acquire proof. Apply that logic to a more serious offense like a class 1 criminal offense (wreckless driving etc) and the state would be lucky to get off with a dismissal and not a countersuit. The tools are provided to the officer for a reason, if he willfully neglects to use them, thats a serious deal.

Exactly, my thought is that it costs more to fight the ticket and if i argue the case they will have someone go out and meter it anyway.


I guess its time for me to find a sketchy shop to sign off on them lol

I got my car tinted in NY before moving to FL, and I got pulled over. Went to court payed my fine of 75 bucks which was cheaper then removing and re-tinting and went on with my day...just plead guilty and call it a night...

If I read correctly, you are allowed 35% in MD; go pay $XX.XX and get 35% tint on your car and deal with it. You need tint but if you get a fix-it you're obligated to get it changed so do it.

well as far as tint goes its a safty issue. but that said i have had illegal tint on cars in the past.
So i would just have it pulled off the front 2 windows and get it signed off by a cop. in most states there is not law on the back windows. thats why cars nowadays tend to come pretinted to a dark tint on any glass behind the driver.

I had the dealership tint the windows when I bought the car... the back windows are 25% and the fronts are 35%... the 35%, while not legal in Ohio, is legal in most every other state... Here it is a secondary offense so supposedly you aren't going to get pulled over for it... but im ready to pay if they decide to call me out on it
