Question How to repair loose switchblade key?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Does anyone know how to tighten up a loose switchblade key? I've done a search here and on the web but with little result.

I am easily able to get the key split in two pieces (flip-key portion and transmitter/battery portion) but can't figure out how to get to the internals of the key's spring and retention assembly.

    Any help is appreciated!

You need to peal back the 4 rings piece on the back of the switch blade. There is then a screw that you can take out and after that, you should be able to split the housing. Depending on why yours is loose it may need a new spring or it may just need to be rewound so its taught again.

It just comes apart. Sometimes it can get stuck where the release button is because there are some plastic alignment pins on the inside. Just pull each part away from each other (they don't slide) and you should get it off.

Once it starts to come apart go slowly or else your spring my shoot across the room and get lost. Mine almost did. Took me 20 minutes to find it!

Re: How to repair loose switchblade key?

when I took mine apart it took a little bit of force but no where near so much that I thought it was going to break. someone may have taken yours apart and glued it back. that sucks but good luck getting it apart.

Yes, when you get it apart you can twist the spring more in the direction in which it compresses to give it more resistance. Don't stretch it out because that wont do anything. Just wind it tighter and make sure the little pins on the end fit back into the placement holes so it engages properly.

You'll see what I mean when you are doing it.

Take it apart and add a few more turns to the spring.....FYI DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!!

    A FEW = 2.

I did it and it flips out quicker and with a lot more authority....:)
A little of this and a little of that.......I like go, not show.
