    Interior Trim Wrapped in Suede

Attempted to do something a little different than the rest. I know there are a few guys on here that have wrapped the trim...some looked good and others not so well. I think mine turned out great. I think some will like it and some will hate it. There are NO sags or bubbles...im actually quite proud of myself b/c of how well it turned out. Let me know what you guys think. The only other color i wouldve done would be black. But my trim was already soul gray and just black for the shifter surround and the front/rear ashtrays. I did all 9 "trim pieces":

I would have left the shifter area alone, but it looks like you did a real nice job. No obvious bubbles and wrinkles. Did you tape off the pieces and use spray adhesive?

Close ups of the shifter area. Great job with the fitment aroung the quattro badges and chrome trim.

i did this a while back if you remember my thread and the 2 pieces you need to get out are the 'quattro' and the trim piece along the flip up part of the ash tray.

when you take the trim off it is just a hole filled with plastic that is holding them into the actual trim piece. it is easy to see what i am talking about when you take the trim off. i just used a dremmel and ground down the backing plastic within the hole and was able to pop both pieces right out.

as far as adhesive goes, and im sure the OP will attest, use a strong spray adhesive. i used 3M foam adhesive and the fact that it is so strong made it very easy to not have any bubbles or peeling

Re: Interior Trim Wrapped in Suede

looks good... very nice job. +1 on prefering a darker color but it looks very nice.. And the shifter surround probably should of been left alone, probably get dirty quick? BUT then again im looking to find an alcantara shift boot haha, but in a dark blue color to match my moro blue color... anyone know where i can get one PM me! (sorry for the thread jack).

Good work and for being different..

Any plans on doing your head liner?

I wouldnt mind doing my headliner but dont want to tackle a job like that on my own.

Re: Interior Trim Wrapped in Suede

Ill get close-ups as requested. The quattro badge was actually removed and then pressed back in after i punctured holes in the suede to get the badge "posts" back through. I used a pair of pliars to force it back in. The extra material in the holes actually has enough press to keep the badge in...no need for glue. As for the color, i see what many of you mean, AND with the shifter area. The good thing is, is that the red actually matches the red audisport logos on my rubber mats. ALL pieces were removed and disassembled to wrap...except the front ashtray. For a DIY guide, it was relatively straight forward. I bought Loctite's spray adhesive AND the suede at a local "joann fabrics". I sprayed the piece itself AND the backside of the suede for proper adherement. (if thats a word, lol...per the directions of the spray can) and slowly applied it like it was a tint to assure no bubbling. It takes TONS of TIME and PATIENCE to get this perfect. There are odd cuts to make in the fabric to get it around the tricky curved areas of certain pieces. Just take your time and keep clean. The adhesive can get quite messy as you may think. Any other questions, please feel free to ask me. I can probably do a whole other set of trim with what i have left over. I bought a full yard.

haha, yea they did. I just was like "fuck it" and went to go pick some suede after work on friday and spent the ENTIRE night till past midnight doing it all. I figured i could use a break on going out friday night and save it for saturday night instead. It was quite relaxing chilling out for an evening, just me and the car and some tunes.

Know what u mean, im on probation and cant go out so i end up working on the car instead. Told ya it wasnt hard, the suedes pretty easy to stretch to get all the wrinkles out of. It took me forever to do mine, at least a week working evenings but i did the door armrest too wich were a bitch, dont plan on doing them again anytime soon.

i really like that look n7plus1, good choice of colors, I prob would have also gone with a darker shade of red, but that still pops nicely.

jstcalmebatman's looks pretty cool too, although i don't know how i feel about it (the purple) seeing that your car is red from the side view mirror.

wonder what color would be good if done on my tan interior... yikes
