    Difference between the B6/B7 S4 and B7 RS4 Engine

    So im still pretty new to Audi, and I am trying to learn what exactly is the difference between the S4 and RS4 engines?
    besides the nice red intake manifold you see when you pop the hood of the
    RS4, what else is giving that pup 80 hp more?

    Your best bet is to try the search function. There are a bunch of threads covering this with some great information. But the simplest answer is that the RS4 motor is FSI with 12.5:1 compression and a more efficient header design.

    Basically...everything.
    The block is different the heads are different intake manifold is different. The only thing is the same is that both are V8 with a 4.2L displacement made by Audi
    B6 S4 Winter Beast: Supercharger, Carbonio-hybrid Intake, Fast Intentions DP & CB, CF Vented Hood. Susp:PSS9 Coilovers, Hotchkis F&R sway bars, Brakes: B7 RS4 Front (w/LW rings) & rear BRK, SS lines. Snow tires.
    Daily Driver: BMW F15 X5 M50d clone, DUDMD tune, water/methanol injection, 38mpg highway

    not sure about the s4, but the motor is also aluminum. engine cools down very quick

    The biggest difference is that it isn't under the hood of my car.

    correct me if i am wrong but i understood that it was the same block but with lightweight internals making it able to rev higher and quicker not to mention the FSI which allows for a much cleaner and efficient combustion by atomizing the gas more evenly with the air.
