Good stereo shop in Los Angeles?

I'm looking to upgrade my stock bose set up with a basic amp and subwoofer combo, and wanted to see if anyone had a good place to recommend. I've used Al & Ed's recently, and I wasn't super-pleased about the work/rates. Any suggestions out there?

What part of LA...most local stereo shops can do what you want relatively cheap if you just want a basic amp/sub - nothing crazy.
Al & Eds do good work, but are $$$.

Anywhere in Los Angeles would work for me. Westside would be best, but I don't mind driving a little ways to save some money. Al and Ed's is really close to me, but I always feel like their pricing is high, even for minor work. I've been jerked before going with the random cheapo spots as well, so I figure'd I would see if the forum folks could drop some referrals for good places.

Area looks grimey.. but thats Car Sounds/Electronics district.

Really? I know good deals can be had at spots in that area, but most of them dudes are shadesville... Have you had a good experience with any of the places in particular?

I went Downtown with a couple friends looking for car audio, deff some sketch dealers...but the prices are good (& negotiable). But use common sense and think why...stolen, fake, & broken goods might be considered.
