    How wide wheels on A4?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hello.

wonder a bit how wide tires are possible to fit an a A4 B8.

Can you post what wheels you got on your car?

    Front/Rear

    I hadd
9,5"x19" with 265-35-19" last summer front and rear. ET 35 (I think)
Lowered with original sport coils from Audi (not sline)

Re: How wide wheels on A4?

It depends... Do you mean without rubbing or poking past the fender? If I remember right, your fronts poked past the front fenders by about 10mm. I think 9.5" wheels might work with ET45, but not sure about clearance with the suspension on the inside. I'm running a conservative 8.5" width with 245/35/19 tires to avoid rubbing the rear fenders. Your question does not lend itself to a simple answer, so please clarify.

tekieru: My sline wheels was 245/45 or 40 -18" Don't remember the ET

    Blake P:
I ment without rubbing fenders On front I also want's to be able to make a turn without destroying my front fenders. Thinking 8,5 with 235/245 and 10" rear with 265-295 some place?

Hi Xileh, I have been runnin 20x9 ET 37 with 255 tires for the rear and they rub the inner fender when suspensions are compressed. I'd say 20x9 ET 40 would be your safest choice for the rear. As for the front ET 37 with above spec fits perfectly (fender rubber has to be removed to avoid rubbing). 255 width tires would be the optimum size for 19 and 20 inch. You might have to reconsider about 235 tires. Hope this helps.

The problem with that idea is that the rear fenders are not wider than the fronts, so running wider wheels and tires in back is a very bad idea, IMO. If you remove the plastic clip from the front fenders and roll the inner lip flat you can easily fit 9" wheels all around. If you want to drop it really low and avoid rubbing, I suggest ET41 all around with 245 tires. 255 might work if they have rounded sidewalls like Toyo T1R, but that rear fender liner sticks out so much that you might have to cut it to be rub free with a very low drop.

About time we got a wheel fitament thread going. I've been searching all over for an answer to this question...audiforums.ca, audiforums.com, audiforum.com, vwvortex, etc.

Mods, can you sticky this and change the title to something along the lines of "A4 B8 Wheel Fitament"?

i'm sure they would. they're silver, and we wrap them with tires. =D

sorry but that's special sauce. we pull the springs and dampers off the car, bolt up various wheel sizes + offsets and cycle the suspension through its range of motion to check for interference. then we do a bunch of road testing to validate. all to find the widest tire possible w/out rubbing. it takes a long time, and a lot of work, so you'll understand if we're not exactly forthcoming with the data.

What size tire can I use in place of the standard 245/40-18 that came with the Sport Package? I am trying to add "width" to make my tires look full/chunkier... and still use the 8J x 18 wheel

Sorry if this is not clear?

275/35/18 and 285/35/18 are the closest to your stock rolling diameter, and equally "bad" depending on how you look at it. The 275's will result in your speedometer reading 0.543% too fast and the 285's will be 0.546% too slow. Both are very close, but way too fat for 8" wheels, IMO. My suggestion would be to get at least 9" wheels if you want to try and stuff a fatter tire in there.

I have the choice of 20x8,5 with ET35 or ET38 on the wheels i've decided to go with. I know ET38 sticks 3mm more out to the fenders than ET35.

Most people say go for ET35, because its a more agressive offset. I'm just wondering if the ET35 will rub the fender with a suspension setup lowering 60/50mm?

where have all the senses of humor gone? since we're a business we try to sell the things we develop, not give them away. i'd love to go open source but we haven't figured out a way to do it and keep gas in all of our ferrari's.

the 275's we've run have rubbed like crazy. our car is about 2" down from stock for comparative value.

Nobody is asking you to give your wheels away, but since this is a thread about wheel specs that will best fit the A4 a little free information isn't going to hurt anyone. There are many reputable wheel companies that list the specs of their wheels for everyone to see and they seem to be doing quite well. I, for one, would never buy a set of wheels if I don't know the specs.

No. Right now i have the stock 17's. I wanna replace my WHEELS and TIRES with that arrangement I stated earlier. I'm just not clear on how much width of tire (the 255) the vehicle can handle. Let me know if I'm still not clear.

255's are fine with the correct wheel width and offset. Which wheels are you looking at?

Yes, he lowered his car on STaSIS springs so if you want the same look you need to lower your car. 19" V708's would fit just fine with 255/35/19 tires.

Not a clue. Depending on how far you live from West Covina, Penske Audi is a STaSIS certified dealer who can sell and install their parts and you would still be covered under warranty. Otherwise, I'd suggest you buy H&R OE Sport springs for a slight drop and similar spring rate to stock that is supposedly designed to work nicely with stock shocks and retain the stock ride quality.

the 275's we've run have rubbed like crazy. our car is about 2" down from stock for comparative value.
Jim, do you think your 275 recipe could be rub free on oem audi drive select sline suspension? If 265s fit all around, neat6o, but it would be nice to have a max fit for original sport springs too.

I am guessing 9.5x20 275s on et43 would be the closest to working.

we've not gotten 275's to clear, but only on our suspension. can't speak to stock s-line.

    thanks haha

as for prices of the springs, i paid 350parts and 100 labor, but I bought a lot of stuff at the same time to kind of offset the low cost of labor... i was at $50/hr instead of a lot higher for the avg job.

keep in mind when you drop the car you'll need to do a re-alignment which is pretty expensive in it's own right.

    thanks again for the props.

Re: How wide wheels on A4?

I'm not sure if Stasis offers more than one wheel setup for the A4 B8. I met with a local member tonight dieatomic who has them and said they are 20x9 ET48. He's running 255/30/20 tires and 5mm spacers in the rear. Not surprisingly, from the looks of it there's room for 5mm spacers up front as well. Perhaps with the ET48 offset there's room to run wider rubber as well? It's certainly a less aggressive offset than most aftermarket setups.

    These were the SE08 wheels.

Re: How wide wheels on A4?

^^^ yep Im running the se08 with 255 35 20 all around and 5mm spacer in the rear. I uesd two 5mm spacers on each side but since i had no hub left to center the wheel i got vibration at about 45 mph. I ibelieve with the stock suspension (not sport or s-line) you can run a 12 mm hr spacer and def a 265 width tire maybe a 275 but not sure.

Wide wheels will make the car look faster but perform slower, mmmm... I'm not sure about this mod

I'm pretty sure STaSIS designed the wheels with a pansy offset so they could squeeze 265 wide rubber on them. Although, if you ask me I think 255 is overkill for the power the A4 is putting down.
