02 A6 top speed?

Hi gang I was wondering what the top speed of my wife's A6 4.2 is?
Is it limited at 130 or is it without limiter and able to get up around 150?

Don't go out and test it for me it is just if someone already knows!

well I got my 04 a6 up to 139 or so when I got it.....recently got it chipped by REVO so I wonder if it will be RPM/drag limited now.

I hit 130 in my 2.8...LOL. And actually, it was still going, slowly, but it was, let off cause the tires were rated for 130. Now I got 168 ratings, Il see what it has at somepoint!

There are exotic sports cars that don't even do 189. I find it hard to believe that a 2 ton A6 can. I would like to see a list of mods as well, plus the video.

Yea considering some sports cars can't even get up that high I'm going to call b.s until there is a link up. Sorry but 189 is pretty damn fast in a heavy car like this.

I am sure our 4.2 will go 189 km/h..I am also sure it will not go 189 mph ;)

I guess I was thinking:
1) someone would say there is a limiter and it is set at 130mph and this is how you take the bugger out...

Or

2) There is no limiter in your car and I got my boat up to about 155mph


Now back to the thread......I want to see that 189mph video too :)

Well, in that case, if mine does, its somewhere above 130. Its an 01 2.8. If you have one, Im about 99% sure an ECU chip removes it...

Some models were limited at 135 mph where others were at 155mph, i read this somewhere a while back, mine stoped at 216km/h, before GIAC chip, fact.
After, I haven't had a change to max out, but i was around 250-260km/h and still had some left in 5th gear

165mph outside of Tonopah, Nevada. My mirrors were shaking real bad too, so I just tucked them back to the parked position. She still had more left in her, but I chickened out. I would love to see this 189 video as well

that's the difference between sport package and non sport. sport package probably came with either summer tires or ultra high performance all seasons

no stock 2.7T A6 is going over 130MPH i don't care what you say....it just wont unless its chipped, as for the 4.2, even if it is chipped it wont reach anywhere near 180MPH .... fastest ive seen a 2.7T go was in a Stage 3 S4 and it went 191.....and thats with about 500-550 WHP.....

and its not that a 4000LB car cant do more than 130MPH or the HP isn't high enough, the car just isn't set up suspension/brakes/tires wise to go past 130MPH safely, i would say with better tires , better suspension ...ect, a chipped A6 reaching 160-165 would still feel safe.

I have a video of my car going from 0-135mph limiter, and that was all she wrote, chipped I think it would be good for 150-160 range, maybe.... My car is a 03 4.2, and there is no way any 4.2 is doing 189. Maybe in a fully tuned RS6 you could get somewhere near those numbers. Besides that you would need a downhill road that was like 35 miles long and a Bugatti Veyron pushing you from behind to get a 4.2 anywhere near 189.

well considering the car in that video is an S6, and the speedo goes up to 300km/h, that would be 186mph...
and if it was 280mk/h that is 173mph

00 a6 4.2 13X mph it just does not go any faster but still has a lot of juice left, i think i did 120 in 4th gear and if it would be chipped it could go up to 150 but i dont think it could do more

well i already spanked mine up to around 163, and still climbing...i will never get a chance to do it again though i was scared..but how about someone does it to prove this? chipped a6 4.2

so assuming that this s6 was stock, it is only pushing like what 40 more hp than the 4.2? a chipped 4.2 would obviously be able to keep up..agreed??
