    Wiper Arm Removal

I am trying to replace my wiper arms for an upgrade. I removed the plastic cap and nut, but the arm still won't budge. Is there a key or something I am missing? Input appreciated.

    Re: Wiper Arm Removal

Wiper arm removal has cause me more frustration than any other project on my car! Mine felt like they were rusted and glued onto the little conical locking nut thing. There's a certain wiggle/pull/push/wiggle move you can try, or, just go to Pep Boys and buy a wiper arm removal tool for 10 bucks. It's WELL worth it.

    Re: Wiper Arm Removal

Common with most mechanical R&R tasks, using the correct tool is usually required. As mentioned already, a puller tool should be used to remove the wiper arms.

    Re: Wiper Arm Removal

If you put a flathead screwdriver in between the arm and wiper transmission where it connects you can twist the screwdriver and tap on the top of the bolt with a hammer. Just did it a couple days ago worked fine.

    Re: Wiper Arm Removal

That $12 wiper removal tool was the best $12 I have EVER spent on a specialty tool, and I have a lot of specialty tools.

One trick to use it is to loosen the nut about three turns and then leave it on the while you use the tool. This creates a little bowl shape for the tool to sit in, otherwise it slips off the post. It takes like one minute to get the arm off.

Mark your windshield with tape so you know the correct angle for the new arms!!! Otherwise you'll be guessing.

    Re: Wiper Arm Removal

Put a socket wrench between the arm and the windshield, pry it up and smash the bolt with a hammer...

    I don't see a reason for a tool.

Just bend the wiper arms up and give some twists. Eventually they'll come off. Just have some patience

    Re: Wiper Arm Removal

i changed mine over to the areo kit and when i took mine off they were tight and felt stuck i just used some wd-40 and wiggled them around and they finally broke free make sure if after you remove them turn your wipers on and off so they reset to the beginning before putting the new ones on other wise they will be off. it took some time but if you tape them off it should be easy to do
I drive it like i stole it , then again

Great trick, worked perfectly after hours of struggling without the tool and then with tool just slipping off
