Can't unlock radio from SAFE mode

While trying to install a iPod integration kit through the trunk, something went horribly wrong and my radio quit working. The screen went totally blank, but recently, it began showing the SAFE mode. However, when I press RDS-FM2, it doesn't let me type in the code. Anyone got any suggestions for me? Should I begin looking for a new one ?

if you put the code in there wrong 3 times or if you get locked out. you have to keep the key in your ignition on the ON possition for 50 minutes for you to be unlocked again. Try doing that and see if it will let you key in the code after that. its a theft deterrent.

^ what he said. also, I think the radio just has to be on for 50-60 minutes. I was locked out, I just turned my radio on and locked my doors, came back an hour later (the double din radios automatically turn off in an hour) and I was able to put my code in.

Thanks for the responses guys. I thought that there was another safety measure beyond the code.
Hopefully it's just locked out and I did not end up blowing it..
Should I leave the radio on or off? I have Concert.

Did you hold them down and not just push them? I recently reset mine (same unit) and It took a good 10 seconds of holding them down to pop up the "1000" code and enter the real one.

Try to pull the radio fuse out while the radio is on.. that worked for me when my radio was locked out as soon as i put the fuse back it went to normal.
