    B6 BAT fueling

Ok, so me and Chris talked a little bit about plans for fueling for us. Here are what I think the restrictions are

    - Fuel Rail
    - Injectors
    - Fuel hose size
    - Fuel Filter
    - Fuel Pump

    As for rails, we have

    - ATP (034 is the same) $120+shipping

    - Ross Machine $137+shipping

    - Bahn Brenner $124+shipping

    - OBX (Chris thinks this is an ATP rep, I agree) $80+shipping

As for injectors, they vary in size, and we can get bigger ones. everyone ragged on me for getting 1000ccs but now it appears like we need something around 750cc+

    Fuel hose size

    - 034 makes the -6 upgrade kit ~$170+shipping

Pro - Obviously it helps, we need more fuel
Con - Fuel Rail is the restriction, fuel filter is the restriction, braided line isn't the best and its $$$

    - The -6 and -8 hose are CHEAP and more flexible than the braided line. I think 12 feet of -8 was $67

Pro - Better for long applications
Con - youll have to get it to fit on the pump, and cut it yourself for the right length

    Fuel Filter

    - Custom 034

    - Custom (something like this )

The con to this would be that you would have to convert to a return line, because this only has 1 inlet/1 outlet

    Fuel Pump

    - 034 Bosch 040 pump

    - Ecode "1000hp" pump

I think I will be upgrading everything on this list, probably to -8, but I will be running the stock fueling for awhile once I get the car started

    Re: B6 BAT fueling

I never said the OBX rail was a rep. but it does look like it. I had the fittings for the filter welded today and it was a fail. I think the heat caused the filter to release from the housing. When I put air into the feed I get air out of the return and can hear the element rattling inside. So I now have to come up with a new plan.

I dont see what is so wrong with the braided fuel line, beside the fact that it is money.

Have you been listening to what 034 did with Jake's father's car. I don't think Fuel Filter is a restriction.

But, alas, I'm staying out of this topic and letting you guys figure it all out. I don't need anything but bigger fuel injectors (for now).

Flow test what you have to see if it meets the needs of what you are running...do not take anybody's word, have your shit tested.

I posted up four years ago about flow matching and balancing injectors, you guys acted as if that $60 I spent would be breaking the bank and is not needed...

You guys also acted as if all of the injectors coming out of USRT were the greatest thing since sliced bread, you should flow test your shit and see how they are off about 25% on average from cylinder to cylinder.

I am not putting anybody down, just do not throw darts and hope you get a bullseye.

    Re: B6 BAT fueling

Well, we know the pump isn't going to cut it, either is the line. So with those out of the way all you have left is the rail and filter. So just replace it all, do it once and don't worry about it again. One reason I'm doing it is one, it's cool to make your own stuff, two, eventually one of these items will become a restriction down the road.

You can go with a canister filter and run an adjustable fuel pressure regulator back at the tank, no real need for a return line from the motor dumping hot fuel back into the tank.

Maybe I should build you guys a cool bracket for all of this...I am seriously contemplating making a new tank cap out of billet alu that has true -6AN lines and fittings

I thought about it..It will be hard for the electrical connections but it is feasible...Not aluminium but plastic I used a bulkhead 6 an and modified the original cap a bit

The electrical connections would be very easy, only two wires, you can drill out the billet aluminum, run the pigtails and seal the holes with petroleum safe sealant, done deal.

Since the Bosch Motorsports fuel pumps are threaded, they could be attached directly to the cap by threading them on, this way you can eliminate the basket and run a sock on the bottom of the pump.

That's a good ideea about fixing the pump on the cap, the only worry would be about vibration....I would still think that plastic is better and you can use some studs for the electrical connections on top and under,,remember the tank is pressurized, I am not sure if sealant would cut it..I am talking about this industrial plastic that could be machined, I can't remember it's name right now

I hate how some of my ideas get brought up before I do them. But it shows that some of us think alike. Also by running an adjustable FPR you can bump up the pressure a little if you run out of injector. The ECU will adjust for it. A slightly higher FP will also help with the idle on very large injs. too.

Just use the return as the return. For you guys not running emissions, you can use the purge valve line as a feed and the stock feed as the return. The purge line is 3/8, they are both right there and it cuts out about 10-15ft of SS hose you have to buy. That's my plan, oh and your welcome.

is that long enough? the hose is $60 for like 12 feet

It starts right by the fuel filter and ends right where the pass inner wheel well starts. You'l just have to run a line from there to the rail or FPR.

indeed the manifold was there just for mock up...it is not finnished yet but you can see in that picture how the rail does not line up with the injector seats....next week I start work on my custom intake manifold, I just moved my power steering and coolant botles to make room for that...I will now use a BMW power steering tank and VW coolant tank...BMW parts ftmfw
