    They're just going to spool a whole lot faster. I doubt you would see any big gains in hp.

    At that point I would dump the S4 and take the money I would spend on GT28s etc and get a used 996TT and dump a GT700 kit into that.

    That and nobody expects an s4 to be THAT quick and it's more comfortable, less expensive to modify. Trust me p-cars are expensive as hell to mod. btw just an fyi the gt700 is nothing compared to the proto kit

    Are the crank girdle and billet main caps that GURU is running recommended with the 3.0 kit? I see it's included in your short block. What's the pricing for these parts too? What's the cost if customers supply the block? Since it's being bored anyway it doesn't matter. What heads are included with your short block?

    if its a short block it shouldnt include heads thats why its called a short block

    Yeah, short block usually refers to the area below the head gasket but since this says "complete" short block engine I wasn't sure. The "complete short block" is $5400 more and the list says it comes with the crank girdle, crankshaft, block and main studs as the only other parts. Obviously there are labor costs associated with the assembly and such. I'm trying to weigh the costs of building my spare motor or buying the short block. A boring and acid dipping of the stock block would essentially make it new for 500. Sourcing the crank and head studs would cost about 1000. Not sure how much the crank girdle goes for but I would definately like to know. . What about billet main caps? would they be recomended when running a 3.0 with gt28rs's? How much do they cost? What's the lead time on them?

    Issam, shoot me a PM if you think this is off-topic. I have cash for a 3.0 liter build now but I still need cash for turbos so I'm not in too much of a hurry.

    I always recommend a crank girdle in a high performance build.Each tuner/performance company has a certain preference/discipline that they stick to me.Mine is to make the bottom end of an engine as solid as possible.

    If you are going to go the route of using your own block then I recommend sourcing a used 3.0 92.8mm stroke crankshaft and just buying the essentials.It will be cheaper for you in the long run.

    82.5mm bore and 86.4mm stroke .. is a true 2.8l the 83mm is a bit to much meterial to remove imho....

    Does the Main bearing Girdle creat any issues with the starter and trans since they bolt to the upper oil pan?
