Washington: Illegal to have smoked taillights?

Is it illegal to have smoked taillights in Washington? I'm thinking about doing it to my USP Avant, but one of my friends said it was illegal. If it is illegal, anyone ever heard of anyone having trouble with the 5-0?

I'm pretty sure its illegal everywhere... I've heard about people getting rear ended and accidents being their fault because of the tinted tails. But then again I dont think you'll have much of a problem unless you get pulled over for something else and the cop is a huge dick

Its illegal to have them anywhere, just like no front plate here... yet we all still do it

That front license plate thing is the dumbest I've ever heard. Anyways, back to what the topic is... I'm debating on smoking them just cause I'm fully tinted and then adding the smoke to it, I'm just not sure if I want to take the risk of getting a ticket for such a dumb reason, cause you never know when you're gonna run into that jerk cop. But thanks for the info guys!

Just get laminx, better, looks cleaner, and you can simply peel it off when done/tired of it. Cops harass you, tell them youll take it off, then just leave it on.

I've been pulled over for my tail light being out, and every time the cops tell me that the tinted license plate is illegal and it's a 125$ ticket, but I just tell them I had no idea... but then again I'm a girl, lol they let me go everytime.

and if you ever get an actually get a ticket it'll be a fix it ticket and thats easy to take care of.
just take a pic of it before and after then take that to the court and show the judge and he should dismiss it

my friend go pulled over in issaquha for tail light tint but talked his way out of it, promised the cop that he would make it "reflective" again, most cops dont really care, especially if its only a couple shades darker
