    V- Maxx Coilover Review

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
they ride nice i think about as good as the Stasis street sports i had, The only difference is that these are not rebuild able like most coils. I bought the vmaxx set i have as a transition, but i like them enough i am gonna ride them for a while. They are relatively soft with a street comfortable ride. I wouldn't suggest them for the track but for those who want to go low for a daily driver i give them a 8/10

    better than tein

Quote from a passanger "smooth as butter"

i took them off the car after a few miles and replaced and sold the kit. after using them for a while i give them a 5/10 but they were only a temporary setup for me in the begining

true, but even stasis streetsports retail for twice as much as the V-Maxx's. generally when something is that cheap something has to give in terms or ride, handling, or longevity.

there's an incredibly long thread on pricing, just run a quick search for V-Maxx. I think they're $550 right now!

that is a very good point. time will tell. it seems like i buy nice or end up buying twice. especially with this car.

my stasis are still as smooth and tight as they were new, even after 45k miles

exactly. lets see if there is still any dampening control from these V-maxx coils after 8-10k miles. i noticed a couple people on vwvortex saying the struts were dying pretty quick. but atleast at $500 you can just throw 'em away and start over every year or 2.

    Re: V- Maxx Coilover Review

As far as how long they last who knows. I don't live near areas where they salt the roads or a coast line. so they probably wont rust that fast. being that there galvanized steel. I do understand they are cheap coils but the are TUV rated. i will keep everyone posted about wear and tear. i will also take some pictures when i do adjustments this weekend. I Bought them to hold me over for a set of pss9, but I like how they ride for the price. so i might keep them till they fail. i got them for 454 from the one day sale. so that's cheaper than stock brand new...

    I have these too...

This is my first coilover suspension, so I can't compare to other aftermarket ones...The ride is smooth and I love it...best $500 bucks I spent.

Tomorrow makes 2 weeks, so hopefully they should be settled. The front is perfect, the rear is higher, but not by much...I'm pretty sure they were close to max lowering wise, but they haven't dropped much.

I call stratmosphere and they said that VMAXX sent them a different rear spring set up, possibly because of the rear ride height. However, I'm hopeful that once I adjust the rear some more they will go down some.

BTW - they handle amazing too!

Fact: if your car hasnt settled after 2 weeks it probably wont settle that much more. Mine settled in about 5days but I have Konis and Vmaxx drop in the rear sucks. In the S4 side they were talking about getting new rear springs because the drop sucks. Bad design if the fronts can be slammed to the ground and the rears barely look any different from stock height at their lowest setting. bad design but you get what you pay for

^ Yea they have already fixed this issue. Strat has received the new redesigned rear springs..

No matter if you pay $$$ or not, this can happen to any company. $500 bucks is cheap, but I'm happy with the ride. Not to mention, by them correcting the issue shows that they care and are here to create quality products for car enthusiasts.

Umm no not exactly. I would rather pay more for a product that was designed correctly the first time. Being that Vmaxx wasnt smart enough to realize their rear springs sucked and wouldnt lower the car shit in the rear shows that they didnt exactly do their homework when designing their suspension and had to have a new rear spring designed. My coilovers will probably outlast my car because they are high quality. all i have heard is that Vmaxx are great but quality could be better. While you guys are changing your suspension in a couple of years because everything fails ill still be riding on mine.

Thanks for speaking on my behalf

    Re: V- Maxx Coilover Review

VMAXX clearly messed up when designing the rear set. Like 90% of all the products out there, yes including Audi, products have bugs, problems, etc. and are usually fixed after a small market base discovers this.

    1. Xbox 360 - Red Rings of Death
    2. Audi - coilpacks blowing all over the place

Doesn't mean the overall product sucks, cuz if so then Audi sucks and so does Microsoft.

VMAXX is cheap because the overall material make up is different and its not rebuildable, plus I'm sure there distribution channels are less complex then other companies since they sell, to my knowledge, Stratmosphere in the States = less expenses passed on to customers.

$500 bucks for a suspension to use as a daily driver with the lowering effect is great. Rides nice and smooth and handles well too.

Paying a premium price does not mean quality is overall better. You pay for the name. I can think of a billion pieces of expensive crap.

Lastly, a company has to start some where like all the other big name companies. VMAXX chose a differentiated strategy of cheap, affordable, comfortable, and the lowering aspect that we all crave.

Longterm, who knows how long they will last? I swapped mine out at 56, 850 so time will tell if this kit is durable.
