Sunroof Conversion

Hey everyone, so for some reason ive looked at everyones's s4's and they all have sunroofs. i dont know why but for some reason mine didnt come with one. The people who had it before never got one (i didnt even know this was an option, i assumed it came with the car...) anyways i have no idea but i would like to put a sunroof in... is this possible and where could i go about looking to do this...?

Don't do the sunroof. only a few s4's came with no sunroof... i think it's lighter that way. if you must have, pick up a different s4 and sell yours to an enthusiast.

Adding a factory sunroof will be quite expensive. You have to have a body shop remove the roof panel, and install a sunroof panel, then re-paint the roof. To do this the glass will have to be removed. You'll need a new headliner. Sunroof drains will have to be installed. I had a customer who wanted a sunroof installed in his new beetle and the bill came out to almost $7,000.

don't do it. my S4 has the sunroof delete option, and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Its been done. There is a CF filler you can buy. You can remove the entire assembly.

you have any links to threads that reference that, or places that sell the filler itself, im kind of interested in a sunroof delete myself. I neeeever use it, and the motor for it and that glass have to weigh "something".

no i know how rare it is... i love the car so much (since its my dream car) so it doesnt really bother me, but i dont really track it so much and i do use the sunroof a lot (had a a4 2.8 before this) so i was just seeing if it is an option. Plus if anyone does want to trade let me know... its got only 81,000 miles and i barely drive it... just pm me if anyone wants to trade.

Just to warn you, besides the constant flaming of putting a sunroof in a non-convenience package S4, a friend of mine had a Turbo Beetle back in '01 (before they had sunroofs in them), and when they put a sunroof in AT the dealership, it forever fucked up the electronics. Lots of crap was quirky or didn't work, etc.

S4's' are rare without the moonroof. Keep it deleted. If you really need one i suggest buying a different car. Enjoy the piece of mind that you have more head room, less weight and less stuff to break/go wrong in your car.

My old a4 had no moonroof and I thought it was so wierd. Now that I have one, I can tell you that you aren't really missing out on much i usually have the little cover pulled shut so that the sun doesn't heat up the interior. Not to mention how many people have leaks and switch malfunctions - really isn't worth the hassle IMO.

I was in 2bennett last week dropping off my car. I know I saw somewhere that they had the carbon fiber filler...

I changed the roof to sunroof version. It is a quite big job. If you don't REALLy want it, don't do it.

I don't know why anyone else would, but personally, I am interested because I think my car would look better with a colormatched molded filler, then a black square on the roof...

yeah thats pretty intense, probably not worth all the time and effort. Certainly would look sexy, but she already does anyway!
