A3 S-line seats in A4 possible?

So I dropped my car off at the dealership and I got a nice a3 dsg for a loaner. First off DSG is pretty nice, but back on topic. The seats in that car are a heck of a lot nicer than the seats in the a4. I am not saying they are the end all seats, but would it be possible to get some of those bad boys in there or what?

Yes they should. I don't know if they will use the same rails, but the seats will fit fine.

yeah...instant gear changes...you don't have to lift to upshift and it matches revs for you on the downshifts......just like F1. LOL!

The DSG is very nice. We have it in my wife's A3 and love it.
I will say this, the CVT is also a nice gearbox. Not as quick as the DSG, but very nice. I am pretty happy with it.

I also had an A3 lonaer with DSG and the full s-line package. The seats were far better than the ones in our car. I was wondering the same thing. Let us know what you find.

Yeah the DSG shifts pretty quick. It sure pulls faster than my cvt with the paddle shifters. I still have the loaner car and I don't want to give it back, but I think I will today :(. Another thing is also the aluminum shifter paddles look nice too. They look like a direct swap too. Anybody have this done?

Uh, to get back to the original topic...
I have been wondering the same thing. If A3 or TT seats could be fitted. Both seats are way better than the A4 seats. The TT seats are really nice.
It all comes down to the rails & mounting points. If length of rails is the same as the A4's, and the width is also the same, AND the rail mount the same way, then it should work. Might have to swap out some electrical connectors, and swap the passenger side airbag sensor to the new passenger seat.

BINGO! We now have a possible option for better OEM seat!
I'm going in for service next week @ Penske. I'll take a look at both cars, and get pics and measurements of mounting points in the A3 & TT.

Well AvanNoir you are the man for this. Keep us posted because I am sure many are interested in getting some better supported seats up in their audi. I would have thought that with an S-line A4 they would at least give you some better seats with good side and thigh bolsters. I mean I understand they have to make is so 300 lb Joe Blow could sit in these, but you know what it's supposed to be a "sportier" model

are you guys seriously comparing *shift* times between the DSG and CVT???

we're talking about Audi's Multitronic, right? just leave your CVT in auto mode people, and you'll have shift time=0ms!

I enjoy my cvt .. shifts nice in sport mode! I had it in sport/manual during our malibu cruise and worked great on downshift and upshift during all that rucus.

Uh, back on topic...
I have an appointment at Penske on Tuesday the 25th for my 5K service.
My Service Manager, Chris Martin, said he'd be more than happy to help me explore the seat swap possibility. He seemed very interested as well.

I'll have my laptop and camera with me, so I'll be posting the info that morning right from their Quattro Lounge! Expect a post from me between 10am & 12pm. Keep your finger's crossed that the rail dimensions & mounting points are the same

CVT has no gears. Shifting in manual mode is actually optimal shift points and not gears as in Audi's Tiptronic or DSG. Back on topic, try driving an RS4 and then driving an A4 the seats get embarrassed.

Yeah the seats in my MK4 GLI, the recaros, are a world better. I like the feeling of being hugged by my seats.

Those are for a B5 chassis. Price sounds right for freighting them from Europe.

Doesn't look like it's a direct swap. Sorry. Rails appear to be longer in the A4. Front mounting looks the same. Bolts are 19" apart on center on both the TT and the A4. Rear mounting points look different in all 3 cars???

I was interested in doing the same and did some research. The part numbers for the rails are different, but I can not find info on the dimensions of each part. Does anyone know how to find that info out?

Driver's Side:

Seat Rail for A3: 1K0 881 183
Seat Rail for A4: 8E0 881 183
