Vredestein Tires: Avoid at all costs

These tires were purchased along with the wheels. For one, there was an understanding at the time of purchase that Vredestein would cover any road hazard issues, which they are now not honoring (receipt never showed :angry: ). Two, i had a second tire begin cracking on the sidewall (pictures below) which they are not covering, and they are trying to pass it off due to road hazard and underinflation. Underinflation is not the issue, or the tire would be sliced (i check these tires once a week cause they seem to not hold air anyways; tire pressure is never below 38 lbs.). This is clearly a manufacturing defect, which they aren't covering! I am posting this as a warning, and it is up to you to make the ultimate decision. This is just my personal experience, with which i am very displeased. The problem is not with the company i bought the wheels from, but with Vredestein tires. I have never had this many problems with a set of tires in my life!

I can vouch for you on that!! I had a set of 285/25/20 on my 5 series that cracked on the outer edge. I was told that it was due to my camber adjustment that it failed. Hm-m-m...interesting seeing that I had it professionally aligned by the company who sold me the tires............No warranty. Their customer service is horrible. I see a huge lawsuit looming over their heads soon. I bought a set of Pirelli P Zeros instead.

exactly, neither have i. i dont understand people that buy super cheap chinese knock offs or tires with no reviews, esp on performance cars.

dont skimp out on tires, its the only part of the car that is in contact with the road.

Vredestein is a huge European tire company based out of Holland and the quality of their tires ranks up there with the best.

If they are having issues with this new tire design they released then they should address it.

i think its safe to go with popular opinion in things like tires. tirerack doesnt carry them, and in the 7 years ive been a huge car enthusiast ive never heard the brand mentioned until this post.

so no, i guess i dont know tires ...

i also dont have tires with cracking sidewalls.

it looks like a really thin profile.. and some stretch.. which is what could be doing the damage to the tire.

These are the Ultracs, which are just under the sessantas. They are 235/35-19 with no stretch, so that isn't the problem. Mind you the pictures above are of the SECOND tire. The first got a bubble in the side wall and blew out and while the wheels were off the car i noticed the cracking on the one shown above (tire # 2).

50/50 is only good when talking about weight distribution, not in the reliabilty of a set of tires!

i've always thought that vredestein tires were overpriced...

i'll stick with my yokohamas. eventhough they are not the best, i've never had any problems with yokos.

Aren't these kind of hard to get in the US? My boss has a set on his MGA and I remember it being a PTA to get them, but maybe it was just the model he needed. Just wondering why you sought out the Vredestein over something comparable and more accessible.

how old are they ? if they are reasonably new, and the company wont cover; id call credit card company and cancel payment. fuck that, thats your life on those tires which appear to be very faulty. could have bought some "caliente" tires and they wouldnt even do that

8-10 months old.

Thats the thing. Vredestein won't warranty them, so the company i bought them through is trying to make me pay for it. Its a fiasco!
