    Carbon/Kevlar Cloth?

Does anyone know what sort of weave this Carbon/Kevlar has? Where could I get some Carbon/Kevlar cloth with this weave?

    Thanks.

well im guessin that you want it for the yellow look... ive gotten carbon fiber from this place for a couple projects that i was working on (without success)

if you have never worked with fiberglass/ carbon fiber then somehting cosmetic is not the place to start cause i will be the first one to tell you that it is a PITA especially when wraping things with edges or corners cause every time i tried i ended up creating a pull in it and messing up the weave..
but anyway heres a link and a pic for reference...

    Re: Carbon/Kevlar Cloth?

ive seen those places with the yellow weave, but if you notice on the photos i posted it has a sort of "dogbone" or "I" like pattern which is what im really looking for.

and I understand that it would be a bit of a project. But, Id say I am pretty "artsy" and could probably make it work. Also I would not be too worried about the weave not looking perfect.

    Re: Carbon/Kevlar Cloth?

That is Hybrid Carbon/Kevlar 2x2 Twill, Dual, Special weave.

"Dual" because it has Kevlar running in both the fill and warp direction. The pics posted by Ultra B6 have Kevlar only in 1 direction (fill only) and is slightly looser. That is usually how Carbon/Kevlar fabric is woven. The "dual" weave is very uncommon and I actually don't think anyone has produced it for a couple of years.

"Special" because instead of running thread (tow) in the pattern of Carbon/Kevlar/Carbon, they ran it as Carbon/Carbon/Kevlar in one direction and Kevlar/Kevlar/Carbon in the other.

There's a guy in Canada that might know where to find a little bit. I don't think he has any in stock, but he deals with that manufacturer and might be able track some down. His website is www.ultralux.ca

I have a couple yards of cloth that was woven by the same manufacturer that is a different "special weave" pattern but in Blue/Black. I also have a couple yards of yellow/black made in the same weight by the same manufacturer, its dual weave, but not special type.

The first pic kinda looks like several layers of uncured fiberglass. But I doubt that's what it is.
