NJ shop to pass inspection with tint on my front windows

I recently bought a used audi and the previous owner put tint all round and i dont want to rip it off, i have to get my car inspected in like 10 days, does anyone here have a shop in nj that will pass me with tint on my front windows,

Good luck. I've been searching for a shop in NJ that will do it for a couple of months now and have had no such luck. I already got pulled over twice and ticketed once for the windows and expired inspection.

Apparently cops have been cracking down on these shops and imposing a $10K fine and 6-month suspension on their inspection licenses if caught. Hardly a risk that most shops will bare for a $100 inspection.

i know but i figure you just tell the shop that you will tell the cops you got tinted after you got inspected, there should be no prob, or do it and get no receipt

Each inspection sticker has a number on it linking it to the shop that did the inspection.

they are cracking down hard on those shops. The guy that did it for me stopped doing it because they came after him. There might be a guy that still does it in north jersey hackensack area, if you want ill get his number and post it. will cost you around 140 or so. When i did it i tipped the guy just so he hopefully will help me out again. Ill find out about for you guys

goodluck finding one that'll do it for you. You should probably take the time to get to know one of your local gas station owners who does inspections, ha. Rarely see them do it for complete strangers..

yea, there is one my me but he wants 250, and its would be cheaper more me to just rip my tint off dmv it and then put back on,

Anthony don't worry about it, I'll take you to my spot. As long as you dont have a CEL on an OBDII, you'll pass with flying colors; tints are ok! But TP wont pass emissions. =/

Cops cracking down shop for faulty inspection is bullshit b/c they have no proof that tha tints were done after tha inspection. Emissions is another story because they have to scan and that gets recorded.

There's a Gulf station that passed my Protege5 with front window tints on Route 18 South in East Brunswick. The guy originally didn't wanna do it but changed his mind. He realized it was only 35% up front and not thta big a deal.

I'm in the same boat as Anthony, have my front windows tinted 50% (almost nothing), and need to get my car inspected soon. dude jus turn ur chek engine light off right be4 u go to inspection.. i have no cats and mine will stay off for 4 -5 days after i clear the code... then u jus gotta find a place that dont mind tint

listen guys the tints will only cost you about $120 all around up in the washington heights area. what you do is rip them off and the take it to inspect. when you take it to the tint place (i could tell you a good spot) they cut out the spot nice and neat so that it looks as if the inspection in on the glass not on the tint. go inspect it at the dmv and then do the tints over.

Take the tints off, go to the state center and get it for free, then retint the front. It should not cost you more than 100-120. Lastly, PBA cards, badges and gold cards are your best bet to get away with stuff like this

I've just moved from NY to Northern NJ and wasn't aware of NJ tint laws. Both my 97 M3 and my 07 S4 Avant have tinted front windows. Can anyone direct me to an inspection shop willing to save me the hassle of tint removal and reinstallation?

for those of you that only have the issue of tints on the front windows, most tints places that ive delt with in getting tints on my car said they will remove the front 2, let you go get your inspection, then come back and put tints back on... and the two places i remember i asked about this quoted me only about $50 to do it. So trying that out might save you much more money compared to bribing a guy or paying 100+ for an inspection sticker... but hey im the same way, id rather pay the extra 50 and just save the time buying a sticker haha...

Hmmmm you just joined yesterday, its rare but you never know if cops troll for things like this.

Pretty sure that's the reason people never respond to threads like this with
"hey my buddy will do it give him a call" or "yeah i go to this shop all the time and they pass me"

Overall, Private inspection station aka a small garage...I got my done there..just have the windows rolled down he said and no problems...Then he never saw the tint (wink wink)

Wow, you must not be dealing with really quality tint. Obviously the cheaper the tint they more often they will do this for you. LLUMAR tint has a lifetime warranty and the best quality from my knowledge. I got it on my car and the rolls of tint cost 10x as much as the ussuall roll you'll find at a small shop..Just roll down your windows when you go get inspected. and if they give you a problem, find a small shop that is willing to do it..In jerz they are really picky with tint to a point, if u get pulled over,they are known to rip off ur inspection sticker and make you go back, lol BEATSKI i think..id be pist

Also guys keep in mind theres a new sticker out, huge, ugly and purple! The cops can also scan the car and see what it got inspected, a friend of mine lost his license bc they followed a car out of there, ran the sticker, and saw it was inspected that day with tints, then they had proof. Sometimes theyll wait in undercovers and watch whos goin in and out
