    Pilot bearing orientation???

Got my pilot bearing from audi!

which the hell way does it go in the flywheel? writing out towards the engine or facing in towards the tranny? the side with the writing has a small rubber seal it looks like so i think that would sit on the end of the tranny shaft and seal it up? lastly tap it in with a rubber mallet/socket or have it pressed in?

i want my car going again!

    No Bentley?

-Drive in with drift VW207C or centering mandrel 3176 .

-Lettering on pilot needle bearing must be visible when installed.

    Re: Pilot bearing orientation???

YEA!!! I did it right!! lol

I didnt know which way to install the pilot bearing either, but I didnt want to wait for someone to answer me on the forums....but common sense proved that the little rubber seal would sit on the shaft facing the tranny (and the lettering is on the same side). So yes, letter facing rear of the car.

BTW, i installed it only with a socket and hammer. it was a BITCH to get it. When I did my friends mustang it when in perfectly, no hitch. But when doing my Audi, it wanted to keep getting crooked, but eventually i got it in true and sqaure!
