And how's it sound?
I'll do a write up soon. I am using a Kicker CompVT 10" with a Cadence FX+1500 amp.
the setup is good, for what i was striving for. I wanted more hit than stock, but not too much. although this sub if it was in a box would hit a lot harder, which i wish it did.
the kicker i'm using fits PERFECTLY with my configuration. Only downside is that with the factory headunit, and having the signal tapped off the rear speakers the sound processing isn't up to snuff with aftermarket units.
basically it sounds like the stock sub with a little more power. wish it was more fine tuneable but i'm limited because i am using the factory head unit. if using an aftermarket head unit the sub would sound a lot cleaner, since aftermarket head units have low pass filtering and a user configurable Equalizer. Right now some songs have NO BASS and other songs are overworking the sub. Then again a few songs, anything that Dr Dre has produced sound GREAT!. Wish i could run an aftermarket headunit that fit like stock.
ohh btw. most higher quality subs can be run infinate baffle (free air). they will NOT hit as hard as in an enclosure but it'll work and sound fine. It won't be super high quality or hit as hard as it should, but it doesn't sound like shit one bit. its all in your settings on your amp, and if possible settings within your head unit. I am essentially running my sub infinate baffle since its located at the factory location on the rear deck. I could seal up the rear trunk, but i don't really think it will make a huge difference with the factory head unit powering everything.
