So the other day i remembered something about when you're driving and you slightly start hitting the brake, but still hitting the gas you can build boost and kinda of get a good kick from a roll. i was trying it the other day and for some reason it doesnt seem to work. you cant hit both pedals. when i slowly hit the brake it completely shuts off power to the throttle. anybody know how to do it? or if its possible? i was just wondering cause its a good way to get going from a roll.

I think the process you are referring to is called Torque Braking. You can only do this from a stop and only when using an automatic

negative, im not talking about a launch. its when you're rolling, you're in gear and you start pressing the brake just enough to line up with say another car. while slowing down you hit the gas and you'll hear your turbo start spooling, just let go of the brake and you take off a little quicker. its good for those "races" from a roll.

Ahh josh, i see what you talking about. Hmm, im not sure there is a way to defeat that feature without having a lot of idiot codes come up.

Supamannn99- the answer is YES launching an automatic is very effective. You need to floor the brake and gas at the same time when the car is stopped. Release the brake very quickly, preferably "side step it" or push your foot to the side quickly.

yea ive seen it done, i was just wondering if Audi has something where you cant use both pedals (brake and gas) at the same time. cause if thats the case we're not even able to heel-toe shift...not that i do that anyway but still.

    Re: Brake boosting

not possible due to the safeties in DBW, if you disabled the brake light switch temporarily while doing it you could possible have it work, but the throttle will cut out otherwise.

Also stock turbo.. no point.. Its most useful on a car where you are rolling at 3K rpm before the race and don't make boost till 5K. You roll on at 3k and you'll be at full boost in a second.

If they did have a system that prevented this they would only use it on the automatic. They'd have a whole lot of pissed off customers that bought a 6 speed manual they could not heel and toe. My car is manual and there is no throttle shutoff when the brakes are applied.

yea i thought so, i was just messin around with it anyway. i know its pointless to do on our stock turbos, i just wanted to know if it was possible. so im guessing no heel-toe shifting either huh?

uhh im not so sure about that. im talking about driving say 3rd gear, left foot on the brake and right on the gas pedal. for me the gas pedal completely dies out and doesnt even rev or anything and the car starts coming to a stop, regardless of how light im pressing the brake.

    Re: Brake boosting

Your car is manual? I was under the impression that your car was automatic.

Maybe this "system" is only active when the car is in gear and the clutch is out? This would allow you to rev match.
