What I mean is the stock A8L air susp vs the Sport AAS you get with the Spork Pkg. Any info?

Sport unlocks the Dynamics mode, where as in the regular package there is no difference between dynamics and standard (comfort)

Is it possible to unlock it via VagCom? And why have the MMI menu option if it's useless?

*Bump* Can anyone give me more information? Is it impossible to adjust the height of the non-sport A8L air susp?

Yes you can do height adjustment via vag com, But I do not believe it will unlock the dynamic mode ( I could be wrong )

The air suspension can be lowered by Vag Com. I have seen it done. The way it was explained to me is they lower the center point settings in the computer so it will ride lower in all settings lift comfort, automatic and dynamic. On the other side it wont go up to stock height.

Re: Difference between regular and Sport adaptive air suspension?

I'm disappointed Audi is doing this to get people to drop several more thousand on the Sport Package. I was so happy when I sat in an A8L non-sport at the dealership and found the Adaptive Sport Suspension menu but I didn't try chaninging the height. What a tease.

Re: Difference between regular and Sport adaptive air suspension?

Since the correct info has yet to be posted I'll drop the changes:

    Sport:

Firmer shock settings in all modes.

    Larger sways front and rear

Sport is 20mm lower in Standard mode. Dynamic does not change ride height below 75mph.

VAG-COM lowering is minimal on Sport Package cars (10mm)

Re: Difference between regular and Sport adaptive air suspension?

Thanks for clearing that up Liam. Would you say it's worth getting a VAG-COM to lower the suspension on a NON-Sport A8L?

Re: Difference between regular and Sport adaptive air suspension?

All depends on what you're trying to accomplish. These are three of the D3's I've had - some VAG-COM Lowered and one with a module. Pics show the absolute limit of each option.

    VAG-COM:

    Module:

Looks great, what does it mean to have it lowered via Module?

You instal a suspension lowering module that seds a new signal the the suspension controller. Gives you the ability to lower is further than VAG-COM and to switch back an forth to the factory settings when needed (and it will be).

Re: Difference between regular and Sport adaptive air suspension?

I'm curious as well; my technitians tell me that there is a phisical difference between the sport and regular suspensions. Is it simply settings in the suspension module or is there actually a different set of dampeners???

Well now that I got the A8L I finally got to see for myself. The stock non-sport air suspension has a dynamic setting which does indeed drop the car lower than comfort mode, in fact I rarely use it because it gets way too easy to bottom out. Liam is lucky to not have to park his cars on a steep driveway. I would imagine that the sport package has different dampeners although I've never quite found the answer to that question. Standard comfort mode ride height is just fine for me.

Re: Difference between regular and Sport adaptive air suspension?

I'm not sure which one mine has, but I do notice the car going up and down at various times. (Mostly at slow speed.)

I leave mine in dynamic, and forget about it.

In the "S" transmission slot, does it also change the shock valving? It does feel more sporty all the way around in "S".

One of the reasons I did not buy an RS6 was the harsh ride. I like a smooth ride, but this car is no slouch cornering either for it's size/weight.

The S transmission slot does not change the shock valving, however it does more agressively tune your throttle response, in addition to shift points.

Re: Difference between regular and Sport adaptive air suspension?

Good to know that "S" does not change the valving.

    A few more questions.

Are those 20" Hartmann wheels on the lowered A8's?

And is adding the larger anti sway bars an option for the A8L without the sport package? (Mine has the 18" 5 spoke wheels, so it does not have the sport suspension right?)

I have the window sticker at home, I'll have to check it out again, and see what this car was built with v/s trying to guess based on MMI options.

    OK, last question.
Can the throttle be adjusted? I have a dead zone on both the normal and "S" throttle. It is really annoying. You push the throttle, nothing happens, then BANG you are getting way more throttle than you asked for. (It's like the cable was adjusted wrong, but this is fly by wire IIRC.) Can the throttle be adjusted in the car? (I'm guessing that there is a linkage of some type at the throttle to sensor? Or is there an adjustment at the throttle body that can take out the "dead" spot when you first push on the gas?)

I don't mind the quick throttle tip in, but the dead area at the top is annoying.
