cup holder in back seat armrest is stuck

any idea how to unstick the cup holder in back seat armrest?

PS - the search function on this forum is terrible! or maybe i'm an idiot but searching for cup holder stuck results in everything but cup holder stuck

Mine too!

I got it open (once) by pressing the button to open it and smacking the tray itself (lightly of course). Since then, I haven't been able to get it open again without a real fight. If you figure this out, I'd love to know the secret.

Search engine is doing an OR search by default. Definitely didn't used to do that.

Oh, there is a thread about this in Forum Feedback. Has to do with the database. Search Posts instead of Threads and you should get the results you are looking for.

The strange thing is that I am almost certain that the cup holders have never been used for the life of this car (has about 68,000 miles) so I am thinking it may be a design flaw. Regardless, the only way I can get it to open is if I press it rather forcefully. Considering I never use it, it does not really bother me but I would like to solve the problem.

Mine rear is stuck too but I never use it. I found some better search parameters but no good info on how to unstick it. Frankly, I don't ever remember anyone coming up with a solution to this. You could be the first.

best info i could find was on AW, and it was the front cupholder not the back sticking. this goes way back to 2002 but some peeps had the cupholder unit replaced under warranty. the mechanism for front and back is likely the same or similiar - could be either poor design or faulty units.

haha... same works for me.. mine was stuck in since i got the car.. just hit it good and it pops out... then wd40 where needed and maybe itll prevent it from constantly happening?? i havent tried lubing it up though....

stuck in my 02 too...their friggin annoyin, especially when ppl wanna put their drinks in the cup holder..and i just tell em to keep pressing it in until it comes out .. lol
