    Re: Xenon vs Bi-Xenon

the obvious - bixenons have xenon highbeams along with the halogen highs.
some say that the cutoff on regular xenons is sharper, but its not much of a difference.
    bixenons pwn all.
    4 highbeams > 2

    Re: Xenon vs Bi-Xenon

I ran ecode bi-xenons for about 2 years. I now run single-xenon ecodes. Low beam pattern is a lot better on the single-xenon version.

What some people need to understand is that not all 4 of the high beam bulbs are xenon... just the 2 that are the low beams as well.

in bi-xenons, there's just a flap that reflects the low beams as high beams. like jwerner24 said, it's only the xenon low beams.

    There is no reflector flap.

dont the bi-xenons require you to get a harness extension or cut up your own harness whereas the regular xenon dont?

Roman, are you sure? If I flip on my high beams on and off, I hear something mechanical going on and allows all the light to shine, like a flap or something along those lines. And of course, the two halogen high beams also go on but nothing to do with the bi-xenon.

I thought there was a flap also. How else would it allow Xenon light to act as a high-beam?

    Re: Xenon vs Bi-Xenon

It's not a reflector flap. Just a metal flap that blocks light. When you turn the high beams on it lowers to allow the full xenon beam also.

Yes. There is a flap, but it doesn't reflect anything. It's the flap that blocks 1/2 of the projector beam giving you the low beam. When you flick on the high beams, that flap drops down (or lifts up, don't remember) thus giving you the full beam.

I knew there was a flap that blocks the light, didn't think there was a reflector flap.

Pretty sure the flap is on the bottom and flips up to block the light due to the reversal of the lighting through the lens.

Yeah, the flap is on the bottom and flips down when you turn the high beams on.

    Re: Xenon vs Bi-Xenon

Also alot of people have seemed to have trouble with moisture getting inside the bixenon housings, however there is a fix for it. Single xenon FTW! Im still waiting for a set to pop up.

Bixenons require you to extend your harness. thats why i created my own extension. Both US spec and euro spec bixenons.

Depends on the car. In my car no extension was necessary.

    Re: Xenon vs Bi-Xenon

So there isnt really that much of a difference in the low beam light patten then?

I think i will be happier with either as Im currently running a HID kit in my halogens..

Now, this having to extend your harness talk..how do I know if I will or wont have to?

    Re: Xenon vs Bi-Xenon

Take off your headlights and try to put the new one back on.... or compare the two headlights when they are off the car. I went from halogens to HIDs, and i needed it. Even after removing the clip inside the fender to give some more room. Also i have a carbonio intake, which might make a difference as the harness might have to make a longer route to get to the headlight.
