b5 euro taillights different?

I came upon this image below, which is a gorgeous euro s4 by the way.... so i was wondering if anyone else will notice the black or smoked tint in the tail lights???? is that just how the lighting is in the picture or are the euro tails tinted like so? I want to buy some facelifted tails, and have come across 2000+ A4 tails and S4 tails. is there really any difference between the two as well as this picture? i dunno maybe all three tail lamps are the same thing and my eyes are playing tricks on me! haha

euro tails have orange turn signals and a foglight on both lights instead of just one.

i have euro tails on my avant, same as US tails except as listed above.

Yeah and there is no cutout in the side of the brake/tail light to shine left/right... the tint to that pic is just in the picture...

That is a picture of my car. Euro tails were not on when that picture was taken. The only difference is that turn signal blinks amber instead of red now. Subtle, but for those that like the look, makes enough of a difference.

It's very difficult to make out the amber the way that this picture is taken. I don't have any others at the moment that show it though.

i had the euro rears on my a4, the amber made it very hard for people to see me signaling. I got honked left and right. Dont think i will get them again. they were really cheap $150 shipped from germany with the bulb holders for oem valeo. I only bought them cause my a4 was an 98 with the older tails.

Harder to see? should be the opposite... easier to differentiate the amber turn signal from a red brake light at a glance than all red signals.. sure you had the right bulbs? or wired correctly? doesn't make any sense

reason they were dimmer is cause the bulb had to pass through 2 lenses instead of one. at night yes its more distinguishable, but in the sun a blinking amber lens inside a red housing is near impossible to see.

i cracked my pass. side one. I have a brand new pair of US market tails, but i dont want them, i MUCH prefer the amber. And now that quickglx mentioned it, i LOVE how they shine out to the sides, i noticed that they did that, but not that the stock tails didnt.

Does he have a euro lid or a lid from a 96 A4? The euro/96 A4 trunk lid has the wide licences plate area...

That is A trunk lid from a 96 a4. The Euro Trunk Lid doesnt have the Line that goes across the bottom of the trunk lid.

The euro lid also has the wider slot for the euro license plate. I think that's the major difference. Looks kinda cheezy with the tiny US license plates IMO.

Call Avalon Motorsports. They are bringing in a set of RS4 tails for my friend this week. Im pretty sure they can get sedan tails also.

The red tinted part is barely tinted tho, more pink than red... I can see the sunlight problem but that is inherent with the red tails too. I gutted the amber lens out of mine and just put in the silver coated amber phillips bulbs, forget the name of them.. looks even more like the US tails, can't tell they're amber when off. Once I get some free time(ha ha) I'll continue working on the LED retro

bought them from a different seller, you can see the amber in the picture. they were oem valeo from the seller i bought them from. the ones in teh auction im not sure on the brand, but they are only $120 minus shipping.

im running a set of these tails too. Love the look of the amber, like DAS said you cannot see any difference except when you look dead on the tails, the blinker section has a hue or amber in it.

Got mine from this place in Germany for like $280 shipped.

thank you all for the info... i just found this picture and wanted to compare it to the euro s4 rear that tmtuning is selling. I found it in the gallery section on fourtitude.com, and it looks pretty oem to me... the difference i see AND like much better than tmtuning's rear is that the exhaust cutout is at the edge of the black valence part, kind of like the B7 S4's have. so which is the true euro rear and where could i find this one?
