Almost sounds as if the pads are loose and slap on the calipers when the brakes are applied. Is this normal. Its been making this sound since I bought it but it hasnt affected my braking in any way. I went ahead and used some disc brake quiet on the back of the pads and the calipers but this didnt help. Does anybody know what this is?

Im not sure exactly what it could be, but are you noticing any scratches or uneven wear on your rotors? Is the clicking consistent with your vehicle speed as you slow down? Just trying to get some more info for those who might know off hand what this is...
    Good Luck!

Rotors look fine and are not warped or scratched. Its sort of like a popping noise when they are applied I first hear one side then the next. Calipers are tight. It sounds like its only comming from the front.

I had a clicking noise. It turn out it was the brake pads. Apply some brake anti-seize and it was all good afterwards. Good luck.

i had a similar noise, le't say there was a stop sing or red light on a bit of hill, as i stop it would click, and then if i let go of the brake the car rolled back i applied the brakes it would click again, felt like a bad bushing. I changed my brakes and rotors last week, i have yet to notice the same problem

I have the same issue though my clicking is from the rear brakes. It is one click per side and one side will usually click slightly ahead of the other. Only happens under light braking and I can't replicate it 100% of the time but probably happens about 60% of the time.

Doesn't sound like there was necessarily a consensus on a fix. Thoughts?

I had this problem on my 01 A6. It turned out to be the brake pads. The backing to the pads completely broke away from the pad themselves. Give it a look.

Not sure what it can be. I have a weird click when I'm driving. But stops when the wheels are not moving. Yet to figure out the problem. Replaced the brakes thinking that was it.

Just had similar symptoms. It turned out to be torn upper control arm bushings. If used the brakes very lightly, didn't have a click, but on any firm or hard stops, it was there. I had them replaced (Meyle HD control arm kit and also 034 Strut Mount and B5 spring seat done at same time), no more clicking sound on hard brake stops and the front suspension is much tighter. Hope this helps.

I figured I'd bring back an old thread rather than start a new one. Here are my symptoms:

-Single click from the passenger side front when braking lightly
-Does not click when braking hard or at higher speed
-All suspension bushings inspected with no cracks (Full suspension replacement 12,000km ago)
-Pad and rotor replacement 12,000km ago (Clicking started 1,000km ago)
-All suspension bolts torque to spec and all bushings torqued while preloaded

I had a read on this forum and did not find a fix that really really seemed to fix my problem. I had the caliper off yesterday to inspect the pads, and they were seated properly with no play. I can not replicate any click or movement by pulling or prying on any parts of the suspension or brakes. Has anyone else experienced these problems and found a solution?
